A show as diverse and "on the ground" as The Magicians doesn't need a sentence like "you have a classic case of white male protagonism"...even if it's all the rage. "You have a classic case of being a rich douche dick asshole motherfucker"... See it isn't that hard. Dicks are great! Pussies too! Assholes... not so much... well, kinda... Depends how you look at them.
"Jesus, wow, no... you can't say stuff like that anymore...", YES we can Penny! Remember you're the "asshole" character of the bunch?
Also, Crusaders... rite? Cuz White... rite? This show should be/--was-- is more clever than such narrowminded thinking and expressions. Did enjoy the twist at the end though.
And everything else was great too despite not having Elliot, Quentin or Alice in it.
Especially since I yelled that a bag of holding isn't a Doctor Who thing right before the white girl told that black guy that it's a D&D thing.
That camera movement over Penny at the beginning was kinda cool. Anyway, I liked how this episode was partly narrated by Penny and the way the story was told.
Josh: "You want to risk the life of you lizard, or is that a relationship you're willing to set fire to as well?"
Margo: "Oh, I'll fucking fry this lizard."
I hate this episode so much :angry: this was when I guessed what could happen at the end of this season & I suppose it's foreshadowing the next one too. The story is fine I just hate the meaning behind it :cry:

This episode was a wee bit too PC, and we don't really need that crap (please don't go there, The Magicians). Considering the essence of the show (a show that never gave any fucks), it truly felt like they were putting a muzzle on a doberman.
So, in order to keep things balanced, I'm just gonna say that, this season, Kady is looking :fire: :fire: :fire: :fire:
This may be my favorite episode of the season so far! Which is saying something considering it had absolutely no Elliot and very little Margo. Lots of Kady and some Fen, though. I was glad to see Fen get some screentime. I love her and lately she's been more of a plot device than a character.
But it was such and ingenious and unexpected way to interweave all the plots of the different charactes. It's all connected, people!
Penny being so PC felt a smidge OOC, though.

This was such a good episode. This show has a knack for raising awareness towards an issue while simultaneously disparaging it. I liked having Penny and the "white male protagonist" discuss the story, (a tactic that prob would have backfired or fallen flat w/a different show) and it was cool to see more of the Librarians as Zelda tried to cover for Alice (but now needs her help.) Also, my girl Kady was back in, finally. I've missed Penny and Kady. I wonder what "secrets taken to the grave" will mean for Penny and the groups quests, or if that will be the last we see of Penny for a while.
