I have no idea that after a quite bad first season, why did I think to give this one more shot, but I'm glad I did. The second season was amusing and good in a way the first didn't even come close to. Now the series is how it was supposed to be from the very start.

Series had great potential, but ends up doing to other magical stories what Blazing Saddles did to the Western. It takes elements of other magical stories and adds 6 year old potty/body humor. It feels written by a committee of writers going in awkward differing directions. There is a serious good versus evil thread drawing on popular magic representation in current literature. This could have made it without the other hyperbolic threads. You see characters struggle with coming of age as their abilities grow. The downside is the forced story lines: There is the obligatory stereotypical gay self indulgent character with straight girl friend in the frat (practicals) house. Every magic spell gained seems to require lots of sex & alcohol. Sometimes it blends with the story and sometimes it feels forced. Finally, mixed in there is a child like god who gives sperm to be drunk & poops in the fountain of pure magic. It is at the final point, you wonder who are they trying to appeal to with that childish humor? You are forced to ask yourself--did I really waste my time following this series? Does the good parts of the show outweigh this debasing story line.
