[6.1/10] Eh, this episode is just okay, but mostly harmless, which is kind of a win for The League.
My favorite storyline is Jenny just trying to win her weekly fantasy football match-up, but inadvertently breaking up Andre and Meegan over whom to put in the flex. It’s a shame, because Paul Scheer and Leslie Bibb make an unexpectedly hilarious comic duo. But I like the pair’s outsized debates where which player to start and who gets “final cut” spirals out into an argument about everything. It’s the kind of over the top-ness I can appreciate.
I was less enamored with Kevin being offensive to his gardeners by assuming they’re pooping in his yard. But him wondering where folks in that position, or cabbies, go to the bathroom, and his constant refrain of “curios and curioser” got some chuckles out of me, so that counts for something.
My least favorite part of the episode was the “beer mile.” Pete and Taco’s training sessions were pretty dull efforts at loony comedy, and Pete having a diarrhea attack in the middle of the race is just another instance of this show’s constant retreat to the scatalogical. That said, I did get a kick out of the gardener thinking that Pete was the “yard-pooper” and tackling him.
Overall, there’s some decent enough stuff here. Not the show’s best outing, but far from the worst.
