Only watched the first half of the show, but this is the best/most consistent I've seen Colbert in his new digs. The psychadelic musical take on the opening of the Democratic Convention was a fun twist (and more out-and-out fun than the X-mas in July conceit of last week's RNC song). The monologue was on point almost from start to finish. And while I cringed a bit when I saw him redoing the "hungry for power games," his man-on-the-street-esque riffs as he wandered around the convention were quite funny, and it's attempts and eventual victory! when it came to trying to get on the podium were a laugh riot. This is the kind of political sharpness mixed with goofy humor that I come to Colbert for.
