The Imperfects 2022

Netflix show entertaining enough to watch but forget once you are done

I liked it a lot and definitely want to season 2.

Netflix describes this as “The umbrella academy meets The Boys”. Yeah, maybe if those two shows also felt low budget, had poor writing and acting, and were wildly inconsistent in their execution, the comparison would be apt, but it’s not. To try and put this show on the same shelf as the former two, is laughably ambitious.

The show lures you in with a promising idea of “super heroes” that develop “powers”, causing them more harm than good, but eventually bores you to death with poor acting, bad writing and subpar CGI. Swing and a miss.

Heard the titlesong, fast forward, saw the band, fast forward, saw the doctor sarkov, canceled this one for me...

Interesting take on mutants, not too powerful, very human, and struggling with the ethics of what they can do.

Rhys Nicholson playing himself is my favorite character of the show.

Pleasant, makes for a good show to play in background and not pay full attention to.

enjoyable but i'm so tired of shows doing cliffhangers before there's a guaranteed next season. or at all. i hate cliffhangers period.

It was sweet. Made me smile.

I'm giving this a 6.5 because, while I did like the show, the ending made zero sense to me and it's apparently been canceled so we won't get another season or any explanation.

Sometimes there are movies or series that, even though they have a lot of flaws, you can still enjoy watching them. And it's in this series.

Yes, The Imperfects is a fun series to spend time on rather than taking the story too seriously. I recommend this series for those of you who are looking for light viewing.

I found it got worse with each episode. Stopped at ep. 8 as I was bored and falling asleep. 5/10.

Mid budget production but it’s exactly what it says on the tin. Maybe a little more fun and ridiculous than expected but it works. If you buy into the more fantastical side of sci-fi with a little found family and general wackiness to boot, you’ll have a good time. This isn’t prestige tv, the wackiness is a feature, not a bug. Idk, I suspect a lot of reviewers are purposefully missing the point because this genre isn’t a new formula but oh well. My one gripe is that making one of the leads ace and having her have a situationship(?)with another woman where their physical intimacy was limited to brief hugs and lingering looks alone felt like a cop out to me but what can you do.

This is like a low budget umbrella academy. Nothing new or original, performances aren't good, music bad, story bad. I only watched 2 episodes so maybe it does get better but I'm not wasting any more of my time on this.

:heart:x6
Not a bad show. It's pretty much what the description says its about experimental gene therapy morality and immortality. Of course there are many shenanigans that occur along the way, but season one does come to a satisfactory conclusion and sets itself up quite well for another season (if it doesn't get cancelled).
Dr. Sarkov however is played a bit over the top.

How I rate:
1-3  = seriously! don't waste your time
4-6  = you may or may not enjoy this
7-8  = I expect you will like this too
9-10  = movies and TV shows I really love!
