This season spent way too much time with close-ups of Moss's face, her blinks, her lip wobbles, her rage whatever - but way too little to actually develop some kind of plot. That this show still has moments of greatness is based on characters like Serena, Lawrence and Janine. But no, we got too much of Luke, and don't get me started on him.
I'm also not quite sure why this season had to have 10 episodes. There was enough plot to fill maybe 5 episodes, the rest dragged on, rehashed things ad nauseam etc. Simply spoken, the writing is a mess. The events in Canada (starting with letting June go unpunished after admitting to murdering Fred and going from there) are laughable, Luke and June don't have a single braincell together (which is a shame because June's got plenty when she's on her own), and Serena gets a sort of redemption arc. WTF?
I'm still going to watch season 6, but rather for completist reasons than out of actual yearning to see more. The Handmaid's Tale unfortunately has become a cautionary tale not to drag out a fantastic show too long. It should have ended with June getting out of Gilead, anything after that was a major disappointment.

This season should not have happened. Season 4 was already a massive downgrade from what came before it, but this season is pretty much just bad fan fiction all around. June's character has become one-dimensional and flat to the point that even Elisabeth Moss' brilliant acting skills can't even save the character. The only redeeming thing about this entire season is the stuff with Aunt Lydia - she's the only interesting and well-written character left, though even her arc has been drawn out for far too long. This should have ended two seasons ago, and the fact that this ended on a cliffhanger to set up a sixth season is a total travesty and absolutely laughable. I'm being overly generous giving this a 5. It's a stain on the original two seasons, which were some of the best television I've ever seen.
