Hunting human beings for sport is bad. Usually. Not this time.
9/10. I would have preferred if it had been done in a way that publicly shamed both him and Serena in front of their peers in Gilead. I guess I'll have to live with the "thoughts and prayers" from the previous episode.
Mr Tuello really is a dumbass after all, huh? He thought Serena loved him? :joy: I shouldn't be so happy he got played twice in the same episode, but here we are. Then again, at least with June he could still get patted on the back for it.
I mean sure, that was satisfying but let's not pretend it made any kind of sense
"We could Zoom when I get there" LOL I truly laughed at that point
Did I enjoy this season as much as the previous ones? No. Did I think there were a lot of filler scenes? Yes. Did I care about Aunt Lydia’s and Janine’s storyline? No. Do I still believe that this is a powerful show? Yes. I understand that a lot of people were disappointed by the ending, and I admit that seeing Fred being brought to justice by the very system he helped create would’ve been a good ending and a poetic one too. But why does the victim always have to take the higher road? June and the other handmaid’s are hurting, Fred deserved that ending, and to me this is just proof that people are in fact human. We can’t always be expected to act like we’re above it all. Joseph said to June “whatever it is that we do to him won’t be enough for you” and he’s right. This is what she needed to do in order to try and start a new life. To me that doesn’t mean she is now just as bad as the people in Gilead, it simply means that sometimes you need to give in to what makes you stop hurting. To me that just means that June and Emily and all the other handmaid’s are human.
nolite te bastardes carborundorum
"Don't let the bastards grind you down"
Not sure about all that Joker-June stuff in the end
Not sure if I'm gonna be watching next season... I don't like where all this is headed... This could have been and amazing series finale (with other ending)... but hollywood needs to keep milking it...
i am SHOOK oh my god
ONE SEASON TOO MANY. Praise be Series 4 is over. Could not stand any more lingering E-Moss’ close-ups. As far as I’m concerned they have just delivered a totally predictable ending. I fully expect that they will do a “Lost” and keep producing series until everyone has lost interest. At the end of S1 and S2 I couldn’t wait for the next series. No way I would waste my time on another series. Just like the Commander, I’m done with Handmaid’s Tale.
This finale man. I dont even know what to feel. Im disappointed in June by her actions, but at the same time her trauma is so deep that I can't blame her for it. Aaarrgggggg. She always has to go over the top in her actions though and it will affect everyone around her, especially Luke and Nichole.
A decent but underwhelming finale. Disappointed that we didn't get a definitive end to the Hannah arc. June's priority since the very first episode of this show was to get her daughter back/out of Gilead. Kinda disappointing that the final couple of episodes boiled down to June on a quest for revenge against Fred Waterford. Obviously, it made sense that she wanted revenge (not just on him but also on Serena) but that specific aspect taking over pretty much the entirety of the last few episodes was disappointing to me. I'd have also liked to see Serena be served with some real justice, rather than just her husband being killed (who she didn't even seem to care about all that much by the time it happened). Even more disappointing is that we never got an end to Lydia's character arc, nor did we get any definitive ending to Janine, or even Mrs Keyes.
Not a bad episode by any means, and if there were another season on the way, I'd maybe even say I really liked it. But considering this is the finale of the show? Definitely disappointed.
EDIT: Turns out I was misinformed. The show is set for a fifth season! I have mixed feelings about this news, however, as I feel as though the show has gone on long enough (perhaps even too long) already. But at the same time, it makes me feel better about the season 4 finale, since I now know that other plots and character arcs will continue on and hopefully be resolved at a later date.
That was a PERFECTION of a season. It's RIDICULOUS how this show keeps getting better and BETTER every season. This season had some of the best performances EVER as usual from all the cast, but especially from Elisabeth Moss and Joseph Fiennes... Just WOW. Can't wait for season 5 already!!!
Such satisfying ending. Even if there's another season, this had to happen, it was time to happen.. and the way, the reactions, worth to wait, June (her wild handmaid version) at its best.
that was a really great finale
This show is dead. It had a great first season, and since then a long and painful agony of mediocrity. I hope they end it soon.
Last night I fell asleep trying to watch this episode and had the best rest I've had in a while. Tonight, whilst fighting sleep, I finally managed to finish it... I wish I could say it was worth the fight.
What a finale!!! Damn… that was fu:asterisk_symbol::asterisk_symbol:ing incredible
Everything was pretty good until the forest scene what the hell?? Prisoner exchange was a very clever idea, I'll give them that. I would like to see what Gilead would do with Fred? Poetic justice, he would suffer because of the laws he helped writing. But no, as a group of 30 women let's just chase him in the woods and beat him to death. Even cut his finger and send his ring to his wife?
I'M SO DISAPPOINTED.
Perfect and satisfying. Very well done.
Poetic justice. We love to see it in this house :clap_tone1:
Seldom have I seen such a satisfying death in a tv show. I love how Emily and June are just perfectly in sync with their level of willingness for revenge, unlike Moira and Luke who are a voice of reason amongst them. I'm glad they didn't listen this time. Fred's death was perfect. He was scared out of his mind and he died at the hands of women who wronged. It couldn't have been better! But what DID make it even better was the fact that both Nick and Joseph had a hand in it. Even Mark Tuello because he knew he was sending Fred to his inevitable death.. even if he didn't know about June and the rest.
Smearing the blood on the baby was overkill IMO.
Other than that it looks good, I watched it before starting season 5, and I like that they already decided season 6 will be the last, It's enough to tie everything without dragging it too much.
Some scenes were unnceseccary long, I watch it at 0.10 speed, and it had a nice flow to it, I do it with some clever shows that stretch their episodes.
I liked this episode. The season overall not so much.
This is another hog-tied fascist spiel where justice is supposedly meted out like the first crime; what'll the next season be? A rewrite by Elisabeth Moss where she stares down more cameras in a scientology-cum-Gilead parable? This is warts and far from all.
This show didn’t really know where it was going and the character arcs were all over the place..
molt tete bastardes carborundorum - a faux Latin phrase from Margaret Lawrence meaning, “Don’t let the bastards wear you down”
