I love how they're taking Ofglen and giving her a plot explored separately from Offred's. Everything in The Handmaid's Tale is Offred's own account, and other characters barely exist when out of her sight, so this was a nice way to add further depth to the story. Will they use Nick in the same way, I wonder?
Aunt Lydia: Remember your scripture, blessed the meek.
Offred: And blessed are those who suffer for the cause of righteousness for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. I remember.
That was my favorite episode so far. The flashback scenes showing how the society change are amazing.
HOLY SHIT. they actually cut ofglen's clitoris or am I wrong?
Only on episode 3 and I’m so invested already!!!!!
That episode was hard to watch. It’s horrible how they treat lesbians. Gender traitor, wtf? Alexis Bledel is brilliant in this role.
Looks like the how it came to be story won't be so interesting; Come on she litterally say Nothing changes instantaneously and five minutes after women are all at once forbidden to work or own property, and they surprised by that, not like they were some other changes leading to if. That's the litteral definition of instantaneously.
The wife is totally crazy. That's also a big change, I'm more used at Strahovsky being a badass character. It's kinda strange how they hate handmaids. They just live as breeding livestock. It doesn't require a lot to realize they don't have an enviable position.
So the basic story point is "she's waiting for something bad to happen, she's anxious about it, get nervous, then it doesn't quite happen and life goes on". Been over this cycle several times already. I hope there's a little more than this.
Holy shit! Did they perform a clitoridectomy on Ofglen?
I have to say that while I'm enjoying the story, it's also getting me antsy. I can't shake the idea that not everyone that deserves some sort of punishment will get it, and even then I don't know in what way can these people, specially these women, be rewarded in a way that I can count as a 'win' and it worries me.
Speechless... Such an high level here... And Alexis Bledel definitely deserved her Emmy for her performance! Well done!
wait did they just actually do with ofglen what i think they did?
This show is damn shocking but so good!
This is getting better every episode.
The message in this show its strong.
Worldwide there are millions of religious nutjobs blinded by their religion... People who just want to follow and believe in someone/something.
In a World where Trump was elected as President it shows how people follow blindly anyone with power and radical goals. Also Islamic religion and its culture/way of life is not very different from the world portrayed in handmaid's tale.
Also, got surprised how Offred can still pray to her God with everything going on.... it makes zero sense. But then again people are blinded by religion.
my god, talk about intense!
