I really liked this series…. Love Poe. So cool to hear bits and pieces of his stories and poems narrated into the episodes. The finale is epic…. So much meaning…. A great and necessary watch

Poor Succession imitation that remembers it has to be scary every now and again, so throws in a jump scare from nothing. Really not vibing with this one after 2 episodes, but we'll see if it improves.

Another series that fell a bit since I finished watching it. I did kind of expect this due to how the show is less emotionally engaging than Flanagan’s other works. That said, it’s also his most impressive from a technical level, with multiple show-stopper scenes from a cinematography point of view, strong acting, and an interesting adaptation of Edgar Allan Poe that managed to tie the stories into larger themes. The structure gets a bit repetitive, and the two dimensional characters in the family drag it down a bit though.

I haven't read any of Poe's works, but from wikipedia, it looks like it is only loosely based on Poe's story and not a perfect retelling. I don't mind that btw. Though the plot is largely predictable by the conclusion of the third episode, the missing pieces are cleared in the very end. The jump scares interlaced throughout the series feel completely unnecessary for the plot to move forward. Overall, it's a decent watch.
