Things are coming to a head in the system as Nguyen launches all the hybrid pods towards Mars, but things get much more complicated as many of those hit and infect UN ships, including the Agatha King, which he is on. If those hybrids hit Mars, it will become a wasteland of protomolecule, leaving Earth as the surpreme power in the system, just what Erinwright wanted.
But all hope is not yet lost, as the Roci, Bobbie and Avasarala work together to figure out a solution to save humanity from the protomolecule and itself. And this is part of what I like about this show, how complex the writing is. We have three groups, once advesaries working together to save each other, even when the rest of the system is working agianst them. And collaboration doesn't feel forced, but a natural development of the story that has been told so far.
And the most intense scene this season goes to Amos and Pax, as Pax tries to finally kill Strickland for his work on Mae, and the other kids, and his role with the protomolecule, but it takes everything from Pax and even then he can't pull the trigger... but in comes Amos to save the day. Pax is not a killer and shouldn't carry the burden of Strickland's death, but Amos has zero problems with that guy... that's who he is. And it's so fucking intense to see Pax struggle with a decision Amos is more than ready to make and take action on.
Another great scene was Coytar triggering the nuclear reactor on the Agatha King, and his final goodbye to Avasarala... even until his dying breath, his duty and honor were always first. Save earth and save Avasarala. Going to miss Coytar and his take no shit, but also protect smol but big talker Avasarala. Will miss having him deal with Bobbie too. Goodbye Coytar.
This show just keeps on giving, the final montage sequence of Fred Johnson sending the nukes to kill the hybrid pods, Mao finally coming face to face with Avasarala as Holden bring him in, Pax reuniting with his daughter and Naomi/Holden romance back on track. So beautiful.
What the hell just came off Venus?!?!?!?!
Amos: I am that man... baaaam XD
Damn! This episode was so good it felt like finale of the series. Love this show!
Another nearly perfect hour of television, with the only weak spots being in the area that Elizabeth Mitchell's character, Anna, was brought in to address. If the collective TV brainpower in Hollywood and Canada can't find a way to save a show of this quality, then the system really is irrevocably broken.
A lot happened in this episode. Just damn!
It's probably the end of a volume.
This episode is officially my favorite in this whole series. (sorry Miller, love ya but this one takes the cake)
I am that guy. So. Satisfying.
Great episode. It's such a shame that they cancelled this show.
In Amazon we trust.
I did not imagine the heights this show would reach. From a scrappy and muddled first season, to a surprisingly strong and focused second season, and then seemingly an even stronger third season, which has elevated all of the characters, and continued the good politics and war storyline. The hybrid storyline is a mixed bag, but it has all culimnated in this episode which put a great bow on the end of these storylines and has some great character moments, and what i imagine is the last part of the second book adaptation.
The Expanse does its mid-season really well like it did in Season 2. It ties all the loose knot in a very coherent structure altogether, at the same time: Avasarala's hunt for Jules-Pierre Mao, Errinwright's conspiracy and Anna's involvement in the higher ups, Bobbie's post-traumatic experience, Prax's quest for his kid, and finally James/Naomi's strained relationship. Most story arcs that have developed for a while now (some even from early Season 2) all come to a closing to a very satisfying end.
Even Prax's story arc end in an unexpected conclusion, as he managed to save his kid - I was expecting it to end tragic, with the supposed foreboding (Prax's chat with Amos about taking care of him and all). Amos, despite not getting his major arc here, comes out the shiniest perhaps among all of the main Roci's crew. The contrast between him and Prax, and his words to Dr. Strickland, "I am that guy", makes his character stands out.
The story arcs cost interesting characters, but at least not before they are developed and has served their arc to its end though I still regret Admiral Souther's early and too cliched demise in previous episode. This episode 6 almost feels like Season 2's episode 5 where Miller bids us farewell with his sacrifice, even the end of the episode as something emerges out of Venus. There is also one unused story device: a protomolecule trace on Rocinante. I wonder how this will play out.
This was an incredible episode. I was at the edge of my seat the whole time. 10/10 #SaveTheExpanse
And here I thought the last episode was terrific. This was a near-flawless ribbon on the top of so many different arcs. And it's only the season's midway point.
Cotyar goes down a hero by destroying an infected Agatha King (taking "that asshole" Nguyen with him), Errinwright gets double-teamed by Sorrento and Anna and finally locked away, Mao is captured by Jim and forcibly knelt before Avasarala, Prax finally finds his daughter Mei, safe and sound, and Bobbie confronts a hybrid and finally gets over her PTSD of being defeated by one on Ganymede. Even Jim and Naomi made up and got back together after a risky tip of their hand to Fred Johnson paid off. And then a fucking jellyfish swam out of Venus' atmosphere... It's almost too much to process right away.
So much got packed into this hour yet it all flowed perfectly from one plot line to the other, interweaving where it made sense, and pushing the whole narrative forward in a believable way. This is how you make hard scifi.
The SyFy Channel is positively stupid for giving up on this exceptional piece of television. They really should be forced to change their network's name on account of it deliberately creating confusion for viewers.
I really hope someone picks up this show! #SaveTheExpanse
Simply amazing episode! They manage to top themselves every time!
SyFy is incredibly dumb for canceling such epicness! I hope that in next few days we'll receive some good news about s4. #SaveTheExpanse
I his shit was sooooo gold!
Especially "Miller" at the end as well as the hopper "crashing" into the ring!
I LOVE new things!
Deciding to immolate for a greater good, justified?
Beatifully said Maeron! Couldn't have put of better! #SaveTheExpanse

Back to back amazing episodes this season! Everything that the first two seasons set up is finally falling into place (the war, Venus etc) and the pay off is so worth it. There’s so much I want to say about the episode, but I honestly barely even know where to start. Dr. Strickland finally met his doom! Amos had me hyped when he was talking about “You’re not that guy… I am that guy”. Time has really made me love Amos, he’s great. I also really liked when Prax told Mei that Amos was his best friend, such a cute moment. Cotyar went out like a good man, his little speech to Avasarala had me tearing up. A very likeable duo(/trio along w Bobbie). Errinwright finally caught for treason, but I couldn’t help n still feel anger when his smug little face was walking out the office. James and Naomi reconciled, which I didn’t expect even though it was coming and her time on the (ex) Roci is soon coming to an end. I wonder how they’ll manage without her given that her ability to repair the ship is very valuable. All in all, a very intense episode.
