As hell breaks loose on Eros, the Rocinante crew figure out something is not right. Miller and Holden find an infected group of Belters as they are dosed with lethal amount of radiation. Enough to assure their deaths. Their only salvation is getting to the Rocinante for some radiation treatment, that's if they can make it through a station that neither of them know, where Corporation people are at every turn making sure nobody makes it out alive.
It's interesting that Miller and Holden are paired up, the realist who has to fight at every turn, knowing that the system is against them, and the ever hopeful, who feels like all can be saved if only you try hard enough.... both men always finding trouble wherever they go.
The rest of the misfit crew is working their way through the tunnels trying to find a way to the ship, trying to save themselves and as many people they can convince that salvation is with them.
Again, Chrisjen is my favorite. She knows she is playing a chess game and she knows that manipulation is her only salvation, the only way to get at the truth when those in power are lying/hiding.
Finally Holden and Miller make it to the ship, just in time to get radiation treatment. And the Rocinante blast off, leaving the ProtoMolecule infested Eros Station, They live to fight another day.
The final scene is the UN spy being devoured by the almost sentient PM, as we see it has taken over the whole station. What is it? Why did Mao Corporation create it? What was the point in using Eros as a lab? Where will the Rocinante find refuge? Can Chrisjen win the politics game to find the truth? So many questions answered, so many more raised.
darn...just when I started to love it. A thousand times more interesting than Dark Matter
And I still don't have a clue what is going on. Which can be equally intriguing and frustrating. I hope they will start lifting some of the cloak in the second season.
A pretty boring and disappointing finale in a season that has been too slow paced and stetched out, with muddled storytelling and a mixed bag of characters. I read that book 1 is adapted in season 1 and part way through season 2, and that makes sense, the material has been far too stretched out, when the book could have been adapted all in 1 season.
The politics woman storyline has been mostly boring throughout the entire season, as had the detective storyline until he joined up with the crew.
I really like the pair up that Holden and Miller are, the contrast is very enjoyable and they might come to compliment each other well. I might be reading into it too much but I noticed how Miller started having radiation sickness earlier than Holden, which I think is a way to show the distinction between a fragile Belter body and a more healthy Earth body. That was very interesting to me. I also really want to know more about Amos because the way he coldly kills people in the blink of an eye is very intriguing. It’s been teased a bit, but I wonder what he’s been through that makes him so trigger happy and desensitized to it.
Season finale. To say that death follows them is to fall short. One of the best science fiction series seen in a long time
Good season with a good finale, not great, but good.
Season 2 which will consist of 13 episodes will premiere in 2017. It's going to be a long wait.
I sat through the whole season waiting for things to get interesting and they never really did. I was so bored the whole time. This show is just way too slow for me, I guess.
I'm of two minds about the Reveal. Characterwise the last 3 episodes are everything I was asking for. Execution was pretty close to being perfect. Characters weren't allowed to do the dumb trope thing either by themselves or thanks to Amos or Miller's friend. Naomi becomes idealistic at the worst possible time is fair character evolution.
"Leviathan" itself was pretty much what I was afraid it's gonna be since episode 1. Thematically it doesn't work for me at all.
Class conflict and environmental issues were such a strong, grounded part of the show that it was enough for me without some sort of premonition (Julie last vision before death, presumably) and that level of bioweapon (probably not a weapon at all).
With the whole shtick of "this thing will save us all"... I kinda at lose what could this thing possibly solve? Wars (hivemind type of solution)? Diseases? Death? Terraforming? Fast-travel? Time travel?
So far, it cheapen overall impression of worldbuilding and themes that first half of the season set up.
Wow, I totally misremembered things. I thought much more happened during the first season and my favorite character hasn't even been introduced yet.
Anyway, we certainly have a good setup for season two now :)
And we've got some nice action and thrills during their escape from Eros station.
Comcast says that 9 is the finale. Confused.
