I watch this show with subs, then read them separately after. Sometimes for clarity, sometimes for the sheer compactness. Like lyrics to a song.

01x03 - Vultures on the Line: 7.5/10 (Good, Slightly Flawed)

“Vultures on the Line” has a lot going for it and could have been the finest episode of the season so far, but the episode’s confusing continuity makes the viewing experience feel more like a chore and lessens the episode’s overall appeal. It takes a slight detour from the two leads, whom the audience is still warming up to, by adding a disjointed side plot that seems to serve no purpose, but will probably make sense in the long run. Despite its shortcomings, the episode keeps you invested thanks to its excellent performances, beautiful settings, and well-written dialogue. With half of the show’s total runtime concluded and not much in the way of progression, one can only hope that the second half will pack a punch and move the story forward; I’m certainly looking forward to it.

Emily Blunt imbues a simple hmm or huh with so much

I had some big hopes from Emily Blunt on this show....but I guess that's how things used to play back in 1890....dangerous yet slow.

I'll adjust my pace and try to listen more carefully....not everything is about the action anyways.
