The penultimate episode, “The Half of Ourselves We Have Lost”, moves the story forward, but it leaves viewers wondering whether they should have reached this point in the tale a few episodes earlier. A shorter runtime would have benefited the series; now that it has been renewed for a second season, it can undoubtedly work on perfecting this aspect.
Nevertheless, the acting and direction continue to be the main redeeming qualities of the show. The cast delivers strong performances, and the direction sets the show apart with its suspenseful and eerie atmosphere.
The mystery remains its biggest draw, with plenty of twists and turns to keep the audience guessing. However, with all the build-up in this episode, a lot is riding on the finale. If it fails to deliver, it will leave a sour taste for the whole series.
