(MCU + other TV Series in this list)
The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) television series are American superhero television shows based on characters that appear in publications by Marvel Comics. They are set in, or inspired by, the shared universe of the MCU film franchise.

The MCU first expanded to television after the creation of Marvel Television in 2010, with that studio producing 12 series alongside ABC Studios and its production division ABC Signature Studios. These premiered across broadcast, streaming, and cable television on ABC, Netflix and Hulu, and Freeform, respectively. The main ABC series were inspired by the films and featured film characters, and were referred to as the "Marvel Heroes" series. A connected group of series for Netflix were called the "Marvel Knights" series, and crossed over with each other. Young adult-focused series were produced for Freeform and Hulu, while the latter also had a group of series called "Adventure into Fear" planned before Marvel Television was shut down in December 2019.

Marvel Studios—the production studio behind the films—began producing their own series for the streaming service Disney+ in 2018, with at least eight series in development. These are focused on supporting characters from the films, have much larger budgets than Marvel Television series, and interconnect with the films in a way that the Marvel Television series did not. Following the end of Marvel Television's series on ABC, that network expressed interest in working with Marvel Studios to produce future broadcast Marvel series.

The Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) is an American media franchise and shared universe centered on a series of superhero films produced by Marvel Studios. The films are based on characters that appear in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. The franchise also includes television series, short films, digital series, and literature. The shared universe, much like the original Marvel Universe in comic books, was established by crossing over common plot elements, settings, cast, and characters.

Marvel Studios releases its films in groups called "Phases", with the first three phases collectively known as "The Infinity Saga" and the following three phases as "The Multiverse Saga". The first MCU film, Iron Man (2008), began Phase One, which culminated in the 2012 crossover film The Avengers. Phase Two began with Iron Man 3 (2013) and concluded with Ant-Man (2015). Phase Three began with Captain America: Civil War (2016) and concluded with Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019). Phase Four began with Black Widow (2021) and concluded with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022). Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania (2023) began Phase Five, which will end with Captain America: Brave New World (2025), and Phase Six will begin with Fantastic Four (2025). Phase Six and "The Multiverse Saga" will conclude with Avengers 5 (2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027).

Marvel Television expanded the universe to network television with Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC in 2013 before further expanding to streaming television on Netflix and Hulu and to cable television on Freeform. They also produced the digital series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.: Slingshot. Marvel Studios began producing their own television series for streaming on Disney+, starting with WandaVision in 2021 as the beginning of Phase Four. They also expanded to television specials in Phase Four, known as Marvel Studios Special Presentations, the first of which was Werewolf by Night (2022). The MCU also includes tie-in comics published by Marvel Comics, a series of direct-to-video short films called Marvel One-Shots, and viral marketing campaigns for the films featuring the faux news programs WHIH Newsfront and The Daily Bugle.

The franchise has been commercially successful, becoming one of the highest-grossing media franchises of all time, and generally received positive reviews. It has inspired other film and television studios to attempt similar shared universes and has also inspired several themed attractions, an art exhibit, television specials, literary material, multiple tie-in video games, and commercials.

Movies, Specials, and TV shows that are canon to the MCU.

Some controversial additions to this list:

Ang Lee's "Hulk" (2003). Although it was produced by Universal Pictures (not Marvel Studios), "The Incredible Hulk" (2008), which was produced by Marvel Studios, picks up from where "Hulk" left off, albeit with a complete recasting of all roles. This, in effect, back doors "Hulk" into the MCU, although it is not up to the standards set by Marvel Studios.

The Tobey McGuire and Andrew Garfield Spider-Man movies (Spider-Man, Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man 3, The Amazing Spider-Man, and The Amazing Spider-Man 2). Although these movies are still not canon to the MCU universe, they were effectively backdoored as MCU multiversal canon in "Spider-Man: No Way Home".

I left "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." off the list because it's status as being canon is in dispute. Kevin Feige has stated that the TV shows made by Marvel Television (before it was absorbed into Marvel Studios) are separate from the MCU. It can be argued that the first two seasons are canon because of appearances from MCU characters (most notably the main character Phil Coulson, Nick Fury, Peggy Carter, Maria Hill, Dum Dum Dugan, and Lady Sif), and ties to the MCU movies ("Captain America: The First Avenger", "Thor", "Avengers" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron"). However, AoS diverges from canon in later seasons, such as the appearance of the Darkhold being different from the Darkhold seen in "WandaVision".

1/21/24 Update: Added in the Netflix Marvel series (Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders) due to them officially being recognized as canon by Marvel/Disney.

2/13/2024 Note: The upcoming Deadpool 3 movie will officially be a part of the MCU, but it remains to be seen if Deadpool and Deadpool 2 (and possibly the X-Men movies) will be retroactively made [possibly multiversal] canon by the events of Deadpool 3.
