The Crown: Season 1

1x08 Pride & Joy

The acting is undescribably good!!

Pride BUT Joy, as Margaret would say. I guess it's not easy, with a sister being the queen. Margaret has the feeling she constantly lives in Elizabeth's shadow, whereas Elizabeth thinks that Margaret is the lucky one, at least she has almost no obligations and is free.

This draws a wedge between the sisters, which I'm not sure they'll overcome.

I'm just asking for a future I can bear.

Wow that episode hit differently. AND DEEP. I don't get Elizabeth. She tells her sister she has freedom and envies her for it, yet dictates her every move. She can't even be with the man she loves. After scolding Margret for her mistakes, I was expecting Elizabeth (NOT the queen) to share the news reel incident as to appear more human to her own sister, but nope, she continued that meeting like a robot. I understood every decision she makes until that moment. She was just unnecessarily and unreasonably cold.

This show is fantastic! I regret that I didn’t start watching it earlier!

omg Liz was such a #girlboss when she reinforced colonialist imperialist values on her #worldtour. glad to see women breaking the glass ceiling when it comes to reinforcing unjust institutions.

i hate how much this show makes me stomach monarchist propaganda because of how well-written its human drama is.

Margaret doesn't understand what it means to be The Queen. If she had been through what Elizabeth had she would think different of her.
