begin was good or fine i give it a seven. but after 3 episodes i take my ipad or iphone to look if ariana grande is married....so by
Completely disagreed with the critics with this one, this has a 33% on Rotten Tomatoes which is WILD. The show does start off a little slow but it gets better and better each episode, fantastic performances with a satisfying and great ending. Definitely worth the time!
10/10 incredibly beautiful show that in my opinions anyone needs to try and the acting in this bro don’t let me get started I have never seen such a perfect acting the switch between his alters in incredible and I couldn’t have imagined it better and everyone that says that show is bad has no life or taste
Fantastic show, a punch in the stomach. Don't quit after the first episodes it build ups amazing.
I did not expecting this kind of performance from Holland, kudos. Indeed this kind of role and acting can mess you up pretty bad.
This is a very good series; especially how it interprets dissociative personality. Tom was phenomenal.
Tom Holland is so effing phenomenal in this, the way he switched between Danny's alters on the later episodes?! All the emotions he would show just as Danny?! Masterful! A truly beautiful performance with such a heavy and dark story!
Overall, this was an interesting story. However, it should've been kept to five or six episodes. There was absolutely no need to string this out into 10 episodes. It really lost purpose in the middle, and it got away from the main focus for long periods of time. In the end, the performances by Amanda Seyfried and Tom Holland were quite strong, and they carried material that otherwise might've been quite lackluster.
Total waste of Time, instead focus on Danny's conflict, explore More about the psique, his issues, explain More about the process, they focus so much regarding feminism, motherhood, g4y drama, but they miss here. The 2 main charachters aré awful, Amanda and Tom aré so bad , yo want to see the other actors, 2 bad lead actors Is a nightmare. Please see better a video on YouTube about Milligan or ser better Split movie.
I watched until the black guy held a knife to the protagonist's throat FOR NO REASON in episode 1.
Shows that do this for artificial tension do not know how to tell a story. No, thanks.
God I love insane people
Makes me sad that a lot of people wrote this show off after the first couple of episodes. It definitely had its ups and downs but I think it finds its footing for the most part about halfway through and I really enjoyed the show overall. It's actually pretty well-informed when it comes to trauma, how we cope with it, and why we cope with it in the ways we do. Danny is an extreme and rare case, but there's lots of commentary about mental health and trauma in general that was quite relatable. The first half fell a bit flat as they tried to be sly about what was going on when we all already knew what was going on, but once Danny starts discovering the truth they do some creative things with it that work well for TV and the show becomes much more emotionally engaging. It culminates in a very heartbreaking yet cathartic breakthrough for the character that is heavy on the emotions and worked very well for me. I liked that this was a story about Danny but also about Rya and her side of things, and she had a lot of nuance with her motivations that made her a compelling character so I didn't mind when the show focused in on her more.
And the entire series is ELEVATED by Tom Holland's performance. I haven't seen a few of his other stuff to know for certain, but this has to be his best performance that at least I have seen. It's the first time he has actually fully disappeared into a role before outside of Spider-Man. It's sad that a lot of people likely stopped watching and didn't get to see the full extent of his performance because he was truly fantastic and got better and better with each episode. I truly hope he starts getting better scripts because he's good enough to be in better movies/shows. This series ended up being good for me by the end but it was a bit shaky and I want to see him in something knockout. I can also see 100% how this role broke him and why he needs to take a break from acting -- a lot of heavy subjects he had to navigate and to pull it off so well I'm sure it was hard on him.
Overall, this is a story that gripped me more and more as it went along and I ended up liking it way more than I thought I would based on the start. Worth a watch for Holland alone but also offers a lot more with its creative storytelling at times and powerful emotions.

I tried this, but it just didn't grasp me at all. maybe I didn't give it enough time but I honestly can't see what the attraction is.
[tv+] Makes an important mistake by trying to turn into an enigma and suspense an information that the series boycotts in the opening credits, referring to the book in which it is inspired. Therefore, it runs the risk of making the viewer flee in the first episodes that don't adequately build the mystery or the clues about the truth. It's more interesting when the puzzle is complete than when the pieces are out of order, and it's precisely from the moment the main mystery is revealed that the series manages to be an interesting reflection of the way in which society deals with mental illness.
I agree with the comments that Rotten Tomatoes is way off on the poor rating. But The Crowded Room is much more interesting in the second half when Tom Holland develops beyond portraying a scared little rabbit. Dissociative Identity Disorder (Multiple Personality) may have been novel in the 1970s. However, today's audience is more sophisticated, and hiding his diagnosis in the first five episodes comes across as gimmicky, bordering on sophomoric. I'm only into episode six, but Danny jumps off the screen as Tom Holland is allowed to bring a complex personality out of hiding. Other tropes keep the pacing sluggish. Nevertheless, it's a well-done drama that rises above the generic muck in a "crowded" streaming universe.
So, welll well
This show could be just 5 episode's and could one of most greatest mini series, But unfortunately the first half of the series is pretty boring and slow, I know it has to be like this but they could make a better work, so about the another half it was great , acting level raised up tbh although the expected plot for me bc there was something so obvious which made it clear
but later in last episodes so wrote the storyline kinda good
and as i said in many episodes what made this show good
Tom! he really worked hard for this, U can see this through his facd reactions, So yes he really did a great job
so
anyway
Overall not bad, and not too great
recommend for anyone? I don't think so, but deserve a try.
Good but predictable. None the less we enjoyed it and as others have pointed out the acting is good. Give it a try.
Unfortunately, I figured out the plot twist from the productions clues in the first episode, so the first 5 episodes felt a little slow, but necessary. However, once everyone was let in to the altered perspective in episode 6, each episode just got better and better. Great writing, great understanding of its subject matter, great performances. I give this series a 9 (superbly navigated) out of 10. [Crime Drama]
Incredible TV Show, tyvm Apple.
for anyone thinking of watching—it's a great series, highly recommend. but to be perfectly clear, if you're unfamiliar with its source material, this is loosely inspired by the billy milligan case, emphasis on loosely. the only real overlap is the idea of dissociative identity disorder being used as a valid insanity defense and a few family details. the majority strays very far from the reality, and i think that's honestly for the sake of making it more palatable for viewing. this tells its own fictionalized story, and i just want to emphasize that for anyone going into it blind who sees the adaptation credit in the opening.
This is a very good series; especially how it interprets dissociative personality. Tom was phenomenal.

An entertaining one. They waste too many episodes (five to be exact) "explaining" something that's pretty clear from the start. Tom Holland did an amazing job though!
How are they gonna make a DID mystery plot point interesting for a whole show?

The plot thinckens with each episode, the main character is viewed either as a "poor boy", a "good lad", "a mad man", "a victim" or a whole lot of things. The story he's telling is compelling, but even what's happening around him is. And the sum is intriguing. The actors are quite good in their roles too, which doesn't spoil anything. I don't see why it's badly rated.
