[BritBox] Period drama that includes lesbian love, slavery and social differences. It's an interesting response to the "Bridgerton effect", the creation of a fantasy that places the races at the same level in a historical context that, in order to balance the characters, forgets issues such as slavery. Author Sara Collins recalls the reality of black people in Georgian England, but the series sometimes forgets to properly construct the historical context and plunges right into whining, rebellious melodrama. Which ultimately ends up being a version that doesn't explore the nuances of the novel.

Not going to lie. I watched this to see Sophie Cookson and Karla-Simone Spence lezzing off. Very strong chemistry between those two very, very, attractive ladies. I mean, there isn't much happening in this mini-series, other than those two scissoring, and I'm not complaining.
