Even back in 2016 it's ten years after She's Out of My League (which was not the first) made the statement that attractive girls aren't necessarily shallow girls. Heck it was a plotpoint in an episode of Monk with Freddie Prinze Jr. But while the point is sort of old fashioned and a little sexist it's the implications for it that frustrate. I remember thinking this the first time. Samar is pretty hot too. Arguably hotter than the girl he's dating. There's moments of genuine sexual tension between them but Aram buys in when it's Samar. He doesn't think Samar is so hot she couldn't possibly be sincerely into me. It makes him more of a dick but honestly that entire line of though would have been better coming out of Ressler's mouth. It would have made more sense. It would have been consistent. Ressler could easily believe that Samar isn't into Aram because of their previous one night stand. Ressler could be the sort of regressive person who "men don't get women". And it doesn't insult Samar because Ressler would be surprised when he found out that a hot girl was with Aram. He gets to say "I knew no girl that hot could be that into Aram". It just fits so much better.
