+1 for the "8 Simple Rules" reunion and for finally being able to see Penny's entire family. The only downside to this episode was the entire Howard subplot which I hope gets resolved quickly. Other than that, pretty solid season premiere mostly due to the fantastic guest starring parents.
Penny's family was great! Also, seeing Hank Schraeder donning the uniform again brought chills down my spine!
I liked it. I laughed and yes it may not be a great episode but I still found it funny.
This show is losing its touch.
This was by far the best season premiere this series has had in many years. It's true that it isn't as funny as it was in the first seasons but this made me believe it could get there again.
Penny's family was the best. Great actors of course but they were also funny. In particular her brother with that dumb but dangerous attitude. I hope they come back sometime.
Actually I would watch a spin-off of Penny's family!
Sadly the Howard subplot was boring and I hope they end it quickly.
nothing special, boring and same old, same old. how long can they keep doing no new jokes. this show was getting better again last season. if this is an indication of what's to come its not worth it

I'm not sure why I watch this show. The jokes are forced and you can see them coming from a mile away. They actually brought in skilled actors this episode, but even they couldn't make up for the bad writing.

The show worked for me when it was just 4 nerds and the pretty girl. In recent seasons it became a relationship comedy and at least for me that's when the show became boring. They expanded the friends and family circle further and further and thus moved away from what made the show successful in the first place. I realize there are still a lot of people who enjoy the show and I also will continue to watch this simply because I want to finish it, but it seems that the best days of BBT are long gone.
I still laugh watching this show. The first 3 seasons were the best though. I miss when it was more about the nerds just being nerds. Like when they bought the Time Machine prop from the 60's movie in season 1.
They need an episode where they play Pokemon Go or something lol.
TBBT has finally started coming down from its peak. That's too bad, 'cause I liked this show a lot back in the day...
Also, Stuart is really getting on my nerves.
It's a nice pleasant & humorous season premiere. This is a very character-driven episode w/ numerous guest appearances, including the intro to Penny's mom (Katey Sagal) & brother (Jack McBrayer). The military subplot barely gets off the ground; it gets more focus the next episode.

This episode was absolutely amazing. I honestly can't remember the last time I laughed like that in a Big Bang Theory episode. Hope we get some answers about Howard next week.
