[4.8/10] Yikes. This is some of the broadest comedy and one of the most ridiculous stories Teen Titans has done in a while, which says a lot. Telling a story where starfire plays Old Yeller with a giant silkworm is....out there, to say the least.
I don’t mind the premise though, it’s just done in such a “play it for the cheap seats” sort of way. You have an almost Three’s Company-style sitcom atmosphere to this one, with Starfire trying to hide her not-so-little friend from her comrades. The results are really cheesy, and not in a fun way -- in an eye-roll sort of way.
But I’ll give this one a bit of minor credit. Amid the raft of dreck, there’s some genuine pathos when Starfire has to leave Silky on a faraway mountain because he’s too gobbling-inclined to kick around at the Titans’ tower. Likewise, for all the facepalm-worthy jokes in this one, I got a big kick out of Starfire making up the Tamaranian holiday for scolding drapery, and she and Killer Moth’s dueling attempts to lure Silky over and get him to pick one over the other. Killer Moth’s awkward attempts to do cutesy talk were the biggest laugh in the episode.
Otherwise, this is a bunch of zany junk, with a bunch of off-the-wall gross out humor and shtick-y comedy without the laughs to back it up.
