This has to be one of the worst episodes of a superhero show, if not any show, I’ve seen in a while! An annoying and unnecessary narrator, hideously creepy monsters, a dumb plot…yeah, even if I rewatch this season, I’ll skip this episode.

[5.8/10] Ugh, enough with the comedy episodes already, Teen Titans! I can appreciate trying to do a very roundabout story of kids experiencing puberty, and I can admire the show trying to turn into a fairytale for some reason. But good lord, Starfire’s absurd body transformations and fears of reactions from her friends are just so broad and over the top that it's tough to feel much of anything in the situation beyond a strong desire to roll your eyes.

I will give “Transformations” credit for some cool vaguely Lovecraftian horror. The look and threats of the chrysalis-eater, not to mention the giant venus fly trap-esque alien plant, add a real horror vibe to the proceedings in the third act, and I can appreciate going a little wild on that front.

But the self-acceptance and “it only matters who you are inside message gets garbled with a clumsy and unfunny dramatization of those ideas, and I found myself checking my watch on this one. A rough outing for my favorite character in the show.
