I don't care what anyone says, the _Fairy Dance _ arc is pretty great. You gotta realize, the series SAO is based on, after the point where the main character wakes up and walks out of the hospital — .hack just dropped the entire cast and started over, even changing the art style. They kept the setting (it was the same game), but they threw out everything that made it good. SAO did the opposite. New setting, same characters, new conflict. With the first arc, they had the crutch of the prior series, and the decade of reactions and knowing what worked and what didn't. Now they're on their own, and they have to fly or fall.
