I am not at all the target demographic, therefore, it's unlikely that I could be as invested as someone who is (that is: black, "thick"), but even like this, this was a fun watch.
I only know Michelle Buteau from The Circle, I actually liked her character and almost everyone in the series.
The humor was sometimes unnecessarily low, like the vomiting, and later, the chewing gum scene, and analogies that could have been incorporated in a much more classy yet still funny way. Also, there is a lot of on-the-nose body and behavior positivity which is not necessarily a bad thing, but many times seems too forced and as if it wants to educate too hard.
I am also questioning whether there will be a second (or more) season here, because there were certain aspects of the ending that not only left room for a possible continuation, but Khalil's character was robbed of his happy ending, quite unnecessarily this season, as all the drama could have been incorporated in the second season, should that ever happen. In any case, I don't think another season is necessary, they wrapped up most of the things nicely, plus it's not that deep.
I don't know what the hell was I thinking

It’s a fair watch, pace, and development— and I loved the ending. Yea, I am a romantic.
