For a story I mostly know. They do a damn good job of telling it. I am a bit biased but I love Hank Azaria as Tim Cook. Excellent choice.
Perhaps it's a coincidence, but there are whopping 3 dramas about the unicorn tech CEOs streaming today: Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber on Showtime, The Dropout. on Hulu, and WeCrashed on Apple TV+. All 3 boost high production value and all star cast, with compelling narrative. The Dropout chronicles the rise and fall of Theranos's CEO and founder Elizabeth Holmes, a poster child of "fake it till you make it." WeCrashed illustrates WeWork's co-founder and CEO Adam Neumann, a snake oil conman.
Of all his faults, Travis Kalanick (confidently portrayed by Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is neither a faker nor a conman. If you can overlook its wild balance sheet and numerous PR issues, Uber is among the most successful unicorns. Unfortunately, its success inflated Travis's sky high hubris that only a colossal failure can counter.
His infamous meeting with Tim Cook (steely portrayed by Hank Azaria) sets up the framework for revisiting Travis's biggest problems. Egregious privacy violations, toxic work culture, war in the boardroom, and stealing intellectual properties. His win-at-all-cost attitude blinds him from the warning signs, as he protects his ego with toxic yes men and Arianna Huffington (deliciously played by Uma Thurman).
On this episode, Travis seemingly gets away scot-free. Unbeknownst to him, his vices have strengthened the resolve of his victims. With 2 more episodes left, the series is gearing up for spectacular confrontations and downfall.
IMO a bit too much 4th wall breaking and green screen portions. I also think it odd they spent the first 15 minutes on woman at HR but didn’t resolve it meaningfully
The inconsistency in style of this episode compared to others is disappointing. I get that this is a different writer, but surely there was a style guide?
Driverless cars. Lol. What a load of shit. It will be many many decades before that is even possible reality. And people with “ if you dream it and it will come “ or “ don’t take no for an answer attitude “ are seriously smoking some bad crack.
Best episode so far. Justify Apple’s inversion in DiDi as a punishment for Kalanick’s.

They are really overusing the soliloquizing to the camera shtick here.
