So all this sh*t is Dustin's fault!!
Great instead of having only one Demogorgon, now we have a whole pack of them, and they act like a soldiers of the shadow monster, probably he's like the boss or something
Also we got to see that the upside down world is taking over this reality and spreading like a virus
Regarding Nancy and Jonathan, I don't really like their scenes, they seem cheesy
Also Steve is a freaking BADASS, he's one of the characters that we didn't like at the beginning of season one, but towards the end we f*cking loved him, and now in season 2 he's still a BADASS and tried to face the Demogorgon alone
Like what Dustin said "Steve is awesome"
Last thing I want to mention is that now we know that the shadow monster is using Will in his favor, last episode Mike told Will that he's a super spy, but now it turns out that the super spy ability goes 2 ways, they both share the same consciousness, so technically they both can spy on each other and that's not a great news
"So Jonathan, how was the pull out?"
Steve and fucking Dustin x'D I like them together, they are funny, like the way Dustin dragged Steve along in the previous episode basically because he was out of options and Steve happened to drop by, and now this - the girl / hair advice, the "why are you winking at me?", just Dustin's overall funny way of doing things, I love it! I really hope they will have more scenes together !
"How do you know he's not just a lizard?" "Because his face opened up and he ate my cat." Brilliant.
An entire episode without Eleven and I honestly haven't missed her… Her storyline might be the less interesting for now…
Dustin and Steve: the team-up I never knew I wanted.
She's only going to break your heart and you're way too young for that shit.
Aww, Steve and Dustin bonding time over girls. Really loved and enjoyed their scenes. They're brilliant!
I love Hopper with all my heart, everytime he suffers, I suffer the most
We need more of Steve and Dustin.
How are there that many Demogorgons now? We know of Dart but they seem to have a small army.
Holy shit... That's one hell of an ending
episode 5 and this one are probably the best so far. so much things happening...it was fantastic! Nancy and Jonathan..well, finally! it was about time. Lucas and Max is cute..and lol at steve and dustin solving crime together..i loved this legendary duo!
Oh man! Now we got ALIENS and PREDATOR 2 references! I'm loving this season!!
Who else watched ALIENS Special edetion after that episode?
... And I thought the previous episode was the best! This one might as well surpass it!
This is getting good, and I hope it doesn't stop. The suspense and thrill is intense. Great job making the show this exciting this season, guys.
Steve is badass. The junkyard scene was so good, and I was frightened to see not one but a bunch of demegorgons. However, I was hoping Dustin would get a shot with Max, but boys will be boys, and Steve's advice probably might not help. =(
Now, I feel bad for the doctor, what the Investigator and Nancy and Jonathan are about to do, and I hope they don't post the mail.
The ending was sublime. Their evil chuckle makes my hair stand on edge. Anyone notice their deep chuckle/evil laugh? I first heard it during the scene where Bard tries to get out of the pool and the deme chuckles because it knows it's futile.
I hope the doctor and Bob stay safe!
My ONLY complaint, too few episodes.
What an episode, i have no words, just loving so much this season.
Best episode this season so far. So damn intense.
And I'm really liking what they are doing with Steve, the character is way more likeable and not seeming like an asshole all the time anymore. But I guess that's where they were trying to get. Cool interactions with the kids.
[7.6/10] I realized that in my last review, I neglected to talk about Nancy and Jonathan meeting up with Brett Gelman’s conspiracy nut. But it works out, because their time with him is even more fleshed out here. I like the idea of “watering their story down”, presumably just hinting at government impropriety, without getting into all the supernatural business, in the hopes of convincing a legitimate news organization to intervene. Even coming from a guy with some screws clearly loose, there’s a strong concept there of people only being able/willing to accept the adjacent possible and not the fantastical. It’s a smart approach.
What isn’t smart is how (kinda creepily) invested this dude is in the romantic relationship between two teenagers. Why Gelman’s character has to be the all-seeing narrator for the will they/won’t they between Nancy and JOnathan is beyond me, but it’s awkward as hell. I’ve said before that , contrary to Gelman’s character, I’m not at all invested in the young almost-couple, so their final kiss and implied boudoir goings on was pretty meaningless to me. But hey, I hope others found some catharsis in it (and that Gelman’s character wasn’t filming it for blackmail purposes).
But hey, here’s a pairing I didn’t expect to like, but which turned out to be one of my favorite things in the episode: Dustin and Steve. When they first showed up together, I was asking myself, “Why is this a pairing?” But they have a weirdly great dynamic. The two of them asking for and receiving naive (at best) advice on wooing, confiding in one another about hair routines, and tweaking each other when trying to lure the demogorgon was totally delightful. (I laughed like hell at the winking moment between them.)
There’s also something interesting about Dustin trying to apply Steve’s negging/disinterested approach to Max and Lucas aiming to be honest and direct with her. It seems clear which method is working, and I can appreciate that. Max explaining that she’s a child of divorce, and using that as an excuse for ehr brother’s anger is a little weird and reductive, but I can appreciate the show trying to tackle something that was still uncommon but growing in the 1980s like that. It shows some vulnerability in Max, one that she shares with Lucas, a choice that helps bring them closer together, even if the actual dialogue is a little too clumsy.
Speaking of interesting character reveals, I like the fact that, contrary to my expectations, Paul Reiser turns out not to be a totally evil guy, but rather someone who’s willing to put his interdimensional threats and concerns on hold because he wants to try to save the little boy who’s connected to them. The callousness (or, more charitably, utilitarian approach) from his colleagues makes for a strong contrast when Reiser’s character holds steadfast in wanting to save Will without being derelict in his duties.
(As an aside, he’s a pretty cruddy scientist for not torching the worm in another room rather than doing it where Will can see it and have a psychosomatic reaction to it. It’s well within the acceptable bounds of T.V. convenience, but I’ll admit to it bugging me a little.)
Speaking of which, I really like what the show’s doing with Will here. The young actor who plays him does an incredible job not only showing WIll’s distress, but showing the cold Shadow Monster taking over from time to time. The notion of this other presence within him, one that scrubs his memories and makes him do things against his will is chilling, leading to all kinds of adult fears. This is also a great outing for Winona Ryder, whose demands to the room full of scientists make for one of her best scenes.
We also get some action here and it’s...fine? It’s not bad by any stretch of the imagination. There’s a nice sense of calm before the storm when Dustin, Lucas, Steve, and Max set their trap for Dart and wait while the fog rolls in. It’s a good look for Steve when he runs out to be the live bait. And the fact that they’re totally overmatched, until something calls the demogorgon horde away is an interesting beat.
It’s appropriate that Paul Reiser is on board here, because the other action scene calls to mind Aliens, where a group of heavily-armed solider types get utterly trounced by a collection of alien bugs. It’s thankfully more abbreviated and done as something more akin to horror than action. But again, I like the idea of Will being forced to lure his erstwhile allies into that trap, crying and lamenting that he didn’t want to do it. It’s a strong dynamic that everyone in these scenes plays really well.
Overall, this feels like a number of elements Stranger Things has been letting simmer for most of the season coming to a boil. Excited to see where it goes from here.
OMG!! THEY ARE HERE!!
FUCKING SHIT!!!
This episode was so intense.
Will... You're turning into one of them!!!
They need to figure out how to get him out of it.
Steve!!! That close!!! They almost died!!!
Dustin and Steve were the MVP's of this episode. Oh and there's an army of Demogorgons from the Upside Down about to take over Hawkins.
Alright Steve, you may have been an unforgivable douche most of last season, but good on you for changing yourself for the better and developing a strong friendship with Dustin. You’re growing on me kid. Keep it up
But god damn, poor Will just can’t catch a break can he?!
Very boring and bad series…waste of time
i will never get tired of blaming the emergence of demogorgons—only this time, it's not just a single one but so many of them, to dustin. if he could have just acted rational and not let his fondness of that fucking creature get the best of him, this could've been avoided !!!!! they could have easily stopped dart from evolving into a demogorgon but what did he do? he let that possibility go away and now, not only is he suffering right now but all the people as well! and tbh, it's a satisfaction to see him suffer because of his recklessness. i think :sparkles: dasurv :sparkles: and pls, i hate how he modified the story? wDYM YOU JUST FOUND IT CONVENIENTLY AND NEVER TELL YOUR FRIENDS ABT IT AS SOON AS YOU DID ????? currently, he's one of the characters im most annoyed with. hoping for his redemption arc :))))))
and gosh, the romance between jonathan and nancy was so cringe and forced? the directors didn't even wrap up her romance storyline with steve properly before they develop a relationship between her and jonathan????? i mean at least you address nancy's relationship with steve first before hopping her up into another guy? kinda feel cheating tbh (if nancy and steve is still in a relationship. i skip parts with nancy in it so im not updated with her)
aND STEVE ?!?!!?! STEVE WAS SO FUCKING BRAVE FOR MAKING HIMSELF A BAIT TO LURE THE DEMOGORGONS AND EVEN FACE THEM UP WHEN MAX SAW THEM UP CLOSE. i am loving his character development
Dustin's right, Steve is awesome!
also watching my boy Will suffer over and over again makes me so sad, pls stop :(
I'm angry at Nancy and Jon. The lab has enough shit on its plate. The last thing they want now is attention from the outside.
“You should go.” That was chilling.
One of the best episodes of the series. Seriously, Steve and Dustin were awesome duo in this episode. I really like Steve now and He has awesome moment right the creatures. The guy has show some balls. Lucas and Max are adorable together and I think a romance between them is on way. I loved this episode shed some light why Max was been annoying. Boa I understand. Man, the Will's plot twist was great. I didn't see that coming and the end of episode was chilling. Joyce and Hopper were awesome in this one too. Their pain was really real. Jonathan and Nancy can't go away. That are annoying and their romance sucks now.
An episode without El !! Really.
Otherwise the episode was good.
Dustin n Steve, never thought I would like that! And first time ever I liked Steve...
I don't like Steve at all but damn, he was so badass this episode!
Fighting against the "invaders", exciting
That ending, perfect. What a great episode
Phenomenal episode! So nice to get to know Steve better. The creatures...definitely nightmare worthy. And the ending...wow...just wow.

Nancy and Jonathan do not have chemistry. It’s exhausting that I have to suffer through this forced romance.
