So soft… so fuzzy… I wanted to hug everything in this world. And the dazzling visuals, the breathtaking lights… just a harmonious and soaring short to end on. Screecher’s Hole highlighted the horror and uncertainty of the Force, it’s terrible divinity and demonic temptation. This instead looked at it’s beauty, it’s gentle warmth and soothing sound. In a short few minutes I fell in love with the world and the father and daughter in it. I can’t wait for more of these visions.
[7.3/10] I thought this one was just going to be about “the vibes”, and I liked it on that level. A little plush, stop motion girl exploring the corners of her own little planet is more than enough to sustain a short. The art style was cute and eye-catching, and the lyrical score and rich sound design help make the setting of the short a neat place to spend time.
But then things get real. There’s some genuinely good action to this, between the race to get out of the kyber crystal mine before it collapses, to various people dangling ro falling from cliffs, to an old Jedi Master having to pluck our heroes from the ai so they don’t plummet to their doom below. The camera really gives you a sense of motion and danger, which makes an otherwise gentle short suddenly bursting with peril and adventure.
There's also an ethereal quality to this one though. I like the subtle theme of Aau being encouraged to proceed cautiously and keep her distance and mostly stay mum. But she’s too precocious for that and, when her father needs her most, she uses her song to purify the world, in her own way. THe imagery of that, of an ethereal blue light emanating from her and cleansing an entire mine’s wroth of Sith-corrupted crystals and restoring them to their pure glory, is a moving little climax for the piece. Her saying goodbye to her father and moving onto ehr next adventure, a sign that they both acknowledge she’s ready for more despite dad’s understandable concerns, is a nice coda.
Overall, this is another well-done short to cap off Visions, a show whose second season was assuredly as good as its first in inviting more sandcastle-builders to play in this particular sandbox.
How many episodes featuring a young, Force sensitive girl having to leave her life behind ?
My tentative attempt at a ranking of this season
Very unsure about most of the ranking, my opinion may change, but 100% sure about the very top and bottom
Overall some great ideas this season, a few not so great but I enjoyed most of it
"Aau's Song" is quite enjoyable as the finale of the second season of "Star Wars Visions". Even if the story isn't exactly earth-shattering, I was won over by the cuddly animation style. The result is a feel-good conclusion for the season (and maybe also for the series?). Whether I need more of "Visions," I don't know. Anthology series, especially in the short format, sometimes lack too much substance for my personal taste.
Gorgeous. It’s so nice when artists create things like this. The story was far from groundbreaking but absolutely everything else was top tier
This one gave me very Middle Earth vibes with the setting. Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time vibes with the singing. I was highly impressed by the art direction, and vocals.
My one knock is a good chunk of the shorts ended the same way. "Come with me to learn the force." I wish the stories had a bit more balance, but I can't complain about the spectacular animation.

A beautiful story with gorgeous animation and music. This one was a good short to end volume 2 on
