[5.8/10] Pretty dull for a theoretically monumentally eventful episode. I like the theme here -- that those who get to lead or direct by right aren’t always as skilled or adept as those who are overlooked by age or gender. But the actual events to dramatize that idea are pretty weak.
In theory, an epic quest to go return the magic dust to the all-giving light tree should be exciting. But wacky interludes like Willie running scared from a “monster” who turns out to be Wicket, or a game of mixed up directions inside a maze didn’t do much for me. It doesn't help that the heads of both squads are idiots who refuse to listen to the people who actually know what’s going on. I get that it’s the point, but it’s just not especially interesting.
There’s some majesty to the third act, when we see the land of grand floating trees. But the supposedly grand skirmish between the Ewoks and the Duloks to preserve the spirit of light from the spirit of darkness is another slapstick-y dose of fisticuffs without much to show for it.
Overall, a weaker episode without much going for it beyond a half-decent theme.
