Lmao at Carol Kane. What a great indroduction

Dr. M'Benga on the floor "do I get the same treatment, or... do I just wait until you two are done?"

too much kicking and punching for my taste.

13:00 I'm sorry but what the fuck is this creature? i'm switching this off, season 1 was almost passable but I can't get through this.

"I would like the ship to go"

Glad to see one of my favourite series of last few years return with a season promising to be as good as the previous one.

Wait! What? This was just the first episode of the season?

With setting the bar this high I truly hope they manage to stay at this level.

With that said I really love this show and it’s characters and the acting is truly amazing.

Lovely homage to a true legend at the end.

I can't possibly take Carol Kane seriously in any role she takes, so I'm glad we found this season's comic relief.

Most psyched by Carol Kane going to be a ship regular on this season?!

loading replies

hah, I never would have guessed madame Carol Kane would be in a Star Trek series; she definitely is a -character- no matter what she does. She sure came a long way since Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt!

also, I love "I would like this ship to go", sounds like something I would say. Maybe with "Please?" instead of "Now" at the end

Great ep and intro to Carol Kane's character. She's always a riot.
That tribute to Nichelle Nichols was beautifully worded. :hearts:

In my opinion, this episode (season 2 pilot) is better than the Kelvin Timeline movies. Don't get me wrong. I enjoy the Kelvin movies. But this episode sets the bar. I hope the rest of this season lives up.

Also this is how you introduce more diversity to a show, without rubbing woke in our faces and talking down to the viewers - Netflix take some notes!

R.I.P Nichelle Nichols  - "You were the first through the door and showed us the stars. Hailing frequencies forever open".

I loved this first episode of the new season. The strong female presence went well with the flow of the episode and was a fitting tribute to the late great Nichelle Nichols. I hate it that so many commenters feel threatened by female actors, instead of giving the ladies their props for excellent performances.

Great show, but odd choice to sideline Pike I. The first episode of season 2. Still it gave others a chance to shine.

So, while mommy and daddy aren't on board, Spock decides to follow a distress call by La'an to a dilithium mining planet the Klingons and the Federation are sharing.

The plot itself was okay, but I could have done without the overdosed on stimulants fighting sequences with M'Benga and Chapel. They were overly long and made me wonder if there's some kind of ego-shooter game planned based on this episode.

Some people can't exist without war... but war might be brewing elsewhere.

Could have done without Spock tearing up - although maybe that's due to being hungover on Klingon bloodwine, who knows. Anyway, could have done without the Spock/Chapel angle. I liked the way it was done so far, a little bit of tension here and there, actual fondness, but don't throw it in my face like that.

About Spock (once again) hijacking the Enterprise... at some point this becomes repetitive, even though it was done with a sense of humour. But honestly, hijacking the flagship should have some consequences, regardless of the outcome.

Overall, a rather mediocre episode due to some questionable editing choices.

Great start to the new season

I laughed and squealed my entire way through this episode. Easily one of the best, most Star Trek episodes ever.

Sidelining Pike is a mistake since Mount's take on the classic character was the reason I was pulling for a new series in the first place. Nothing against the other characters, but it struck me as a bit of foolish bait and switch, especially in a season premiere.

Great episode. This is one of the best Star Trek shows made in a very long time. All those that harps about too much action and too much fighting have clearly not seen TOS. The real fans are fed up with crying bitches and agenda pushing. We want adventures, just like in the original series.

Television needs more 10 minute cold opens like that.

This was so much absurd Star Wars adventure space action...can we have peace now, George Lucas?
