Squid Game

Season 1

Some episodes were really good, others, not so much. However, I didn't like the ending, he should have boarded the plane and went to see his daughter. I'm not sure if season 2 will be as good. I hope Netflix doesn't milk this way too much like how it's doing with La Casa de Papel (gave up on that one already after season 2)

Well, the quality on this season didn't stay consistent all the way through, but I think overall this was a good season. I was a bit afraid with all the hype, but the first episodes sparked my interest immediately, and I'm glad the story managed to give even more than what the premise led me to expect.

To me the execution just wasn't quite as good as it could have been. The season had some good high points, tense and emotional episodes, but besides, there were some plot holes here and there, some mediocre acting, and it was also fairly slow-paced and dumb at times.

However, I mostly liked this and hope there will be a second season. I'd say this season didn't set the bar too high for the next one to be even better, and I'm really looking forward to what they have to offer.

Good show all in all, but not as mind blowing as people make it out to be. And gosh, way to count the inconsistencies and loopholes.

It doesn’t measure up in cruelty and fucked-Upness with for example… Deadman Wonderland. Go watch / read that, that even has character development.

Squid games main character is obnoxious and selfish, who only gets out of his obnoxious role while playing the games, any other time he’s his useless, selfish self. Had there been some actual development with him I might have rooted for him, but in the end he’s still one worthless scumbag.

Good show. Although, I think the idea of the game was a big contradiction with its execution ... For me, the first half of the season (when games were games) was way more interesting than the following deathmatch.

Squid game is the Gangnam style of KDrama. Simply an above-average show that happened to capture the hearts and minds of folks the world over. Again, definitely not a bad show, just above average in the superlative KDrama landscape.

Another show about the rich and the poor. This series showed the basic human nature of being greedy, selfish, and indifferent when in a tight/difficult situation. In addition, this series also showed figuratively how the rich take advantage of the poor. However, this series remained on the line that the rich and the poor need each other in society.

MUST SAY
i arrived to this one because my feed was full of news about this
finished the season 1
the end is just bahhh
i suppose they want to make a second season?
i think in the overall its a show you can watch, this represents much of what is the problem today when we have a few with all the money and the much larger rest with few money.
not sure where we're walking but maybe someday this might happen for real when the space tourists get bored to go there?

The English voice acting is unbearably phony. The plot is overwhelmingly unrealistic and disconnected, filled with numerous implausible coincidences and dubious flukes. The underlying story is boring and predictable. Gratuitous gore and blood is apparently the main attraction of the show :thumbsdown:

Appreciate that they are trying to make a crime series out of this, but that restart just justified to introduce the character stories and help to have a case out of the Games it feels too forced. They definitely have to use the majority rule again in some sort of way to make it feels less than an easy way out for all this episode.

At the end, Squid Game amounts to a thin commentary on capitalism and a bunch of the oldest cliches in "intense" stories. It's partly the audience fault to rely on big plot twists.
