[9.5/10] What a feat of comic timing. Giving Squidward the spotlight, making him actually hopeful and encouraging about something, making it seems like the idiots of Bikini Bottom will let in blow up in his face, and then give him a goofy-as-hell triumph is just so much fun. The everyday lunacy of Patrick getting into a scuffle with Sandy, the flag twirlers flying away and crashing replete with taps and the fetal position, and of course, the Bubble Bowl 80s ridiculum tribute that is “Sweet Victory” is all just lovely in its silliness.
There’s not much substance to this one, but by making Squidward the main character, it lets the rest of the cast just be joke machines, and it’s glorious. One of the show’s finest hours (er....eleven minute stretches).
