6/10 but man it has some pretty bad lines and awful scenes. Story could be better, it has some good jokes, and the overall vibe is so-so, fairly good.
Season 1 was much-much better, season 2 is just.. i don't even know why it exists.
Season 2 is worse than one. I didn't understand why it's continued.
I can't believe this got renewed for a second season... wow... just wow... this is just not good...
I've seen a couple of reviews that didn't like the show. It's definitely an acquired taste. It has some truly funny moments. The sad thing about this is that it is a true depiction of our current US leadership in action. The best thing about this show is that Carell and Malkovich are in it. Watching them in scenes together I kind of have to wonder how well the two actors get along with each other in real life. Malkovich is a true delight as usual - but i cant quite tell if he's having a blast playing this character or if he's annoyed lol.
Bad start, good middle, disappointing end. The first two episodes are all over the place and iffy but the next bunch is good. The last episode leaves you in an "okay, now what" kinda mood. There is a clear political bias which is kinda annoying as well.
Nah....boring plus few war stereotipes.
5/10 max.
PS. Stop displaying Serbs as animals, for God sake. Nicest people in Europe.
Seen halv and find it incredibly boring. Except for Carell and Malkovich almost all other actors are terrible. Overacting to a degree I find cringe worthy. Not sure if it'll bother with the rest even though I hate not seeing series to at least a season end. Very dissapointed in this show.
Surprised with the mixed reviews, I thought it's quite fun.
I hate when executives take a good series off the air .. as it is or at least I've read it :rage:.
[After Season 2]
It's fun to see Michael Scott running the US Space Force, kind of... I enjoyed the second season more than I did the first. It’s not the best comedy show of all time, but it’s better than most right now and a fun addition to my watchlist. The cast is obviously great! I’m on board for more smaller seasons, just like the second one, around 7 episodes. This is better in small portions. Keep it coming!
Also... "Aruba, Jamaica, oh I want to take you! Bermuda, Bahama, come on pretty mama!" ♫
Season 2 is good, just finished watching, they could have added few more episodes. 7 episodes wasn't enough for me.
Will wait for Season 3.
In one word: cheap.
It is either not heavy enough on the story, or on the comedy, but they should have chosen. In the beginning it looks like it will mostly be a comedy, in the end the episodes are more plot driven.
With a little more seriousness the plot could have worked as a drama (or semi drama as the base idea is a little stupid). But it is pushed in fast forward and is mostly stupid. Which could have worked for a pure comedy show, but too bad, when there is plot, the jokes are gone. When it goes for drama it fails miserably, the idea might be there but the delivery is so weak.
It has clearly been set up for several seasons, introducing plotlines that are barely touched. Too bad they would have been needed to give a little more substance.
Steve Carell is ok, his character is basically The Office's Michael Scott. Not exactly. Scott is a stupid narcissistic asshole that can't bear not to be the center of attention. Naird is a nice moral guy that ends up in a position that everybody (including himself) find ridicule but where he's also way over his head and doesn't want to show it. Motivations are not the same. But on the outside ? They basically react the same way 95% of the time. It's ok on the comedy part, it's pretty bland on the drama part.
Best point of the show: John Malkovich is just fucking amazing. Like, really. Almost every single one of his lines is gold. The duo with Carell works well, but seriously, Malkovich carries the whole thing.
This show would have been much better if centered on Mallory POV instead of Naird.
This show would have been much better if useless background characters were dropped for more Malkovich.
Lisa Kudrow as Naird's wife is pretty good, and her character has a lot of unexploited potential (to save it for future season I suppose, bad call). Her life in prison would have probably been much more interesting than most of the rest.
The daughter is totally horribly useless without any hope. I'm not sure I've ever seen any character anywhere that is such a waste of screen time. She does not bring a single good thing to the whole season. Her plotlines, if it can even be called that, are so stupid or uninteresting, it's hard to watch.
Tony, the media guy is incredibly annoying. It's irritating almost every time you see him. That can be a good thing for a character, but only if he's irritating to other characters, not to the audience.
Ali, the helicopter pilot turned astronaut has some ok scenes. Seem kinda useless in the first episode, but she's actually git more personality than most and should have been used more (and not a stupid pseudo love story ffs).
The rest are forgettable.
An interesting thing is that POTUS is never seen, and that's strange and normal at the same time. At any other time, having most of the characters commenting around the president's stupidity would not have been possible. If you got an unseen president, he just represents the job and is a serious, official figure. If you want to show flaws, you must show him, and have the character be extra goofy so that the audience understands it's a parody. But these days, it's not needed, people know who is president, and are probably wondering whether this happened for real or not. What a time to be alive. Note that other real political figures are very explicitly represented, to the point that they are more imitation than parody.
It could be a good show if it focused more on one aspect as it clearly is not able to juggle the mix of comedy, drama and plot. Also more Malkovich!
Not my kind of show....this show was full of stereotipes... actually i founded the trailer better then the season. I also can't understand that people or speaking of character development because there is no character development.
This show is a big pile of garbage.
It is the same as someone making fun of a whoppe cushion, you just can'tt make it funny. The amont of plots that are intrudeced and droped often in the same episode is insane. Cast is so talented but it is complitely obliterated by the worse script i have ever seen, it is full of cliches and jokes from 5 years ago.
The political parts really fall flat but the rest of the show is ok.
I am so sad that the show did not continue. I like it and I watch it from time to time again.
Quick verdict: season one is kind of funny; season two is barely watchable. I guess nobody expected an intelligent comedy, but this show just isn't good. The unusual setting and The Office vibes make it at least somewhat enjoyable.
cancelled?? they gave us that killer cliffhanger at the end of season 2 and fuckin cancelled it???
Series was ok-ish, nothing crazy. Netflix just decided to cancel it after 2 seasons... all the Space Force crew will be missed..
This show ultimately suffers from a very weak cast. The members of the Pentagon should have been the full supporting cast to Carell, but Netflix probably didn't want to fork over that much cash.
Keep Carell and Malkovich, ditch the rest of the cast for season 3, if it's even renewed again...
It is sad that this show existed, that so many great and talented actors had to be drug down to the pathetic level of this show, honestly, there are FAR too many much greater shows you could watch than to be wasting your time with this. I can only hope the filmers-that-be learn their lesson from this flop.
What else to expect. Very weak show.
This show is so boring to me that I can't even finish season 1. It feels like a chore, like it takes longer than it does and I'm only on episode 5. I quit.
Very underated. Silly comedy but good tv show. Awesome cast.
It sounds like a promising and entertaining concept, but the execution is mediocre at best. The show tries so incredibly hard to be funny that it's just the opposite - cringey, sad and downright racist. Because of this, I was not able to continue watching this after the first episode.
I have to say, i thought this was going to be bad. Like, really bad. But ended up beeing great. Nothing with John Kransinsky and Steve carrel can go wrong. The best part is this has the perfect amount of comedy and drama, both mixed perfectly. MCU should learn from this show.
It's what you can expect from a second rate Netflix show. It's got its comedic moments, Steve Carell shines in this kind of role and his acting is great. Other characters not so much, acting can be dodgy at times but John Malkovich is a great addition to the cast.
As for comedy, it's not a sitcom, but it has some funny scenes, humor is really hit or miss though, some jokes feel forced (jokes about boomers, or tik tok) and others are pretty subtle. The show also has its fair share of political critique, which aren't always so subtle. Speaking about politics, the show has characters that resemble heavily personalities like AOC or Pelosi, and what seems like a republican representative who sounds pretty stupid. This is not a flaw, but be warned going in.
As for the rest of the characters, most of them are interesting but remain shallow, with no real
development of their intentions, background...
The scenario is nice overall, pretty simple too but still interesting. Although some plot points (especially in the final episode) feel really forced and seem to only serve the narrative.
Overall, a nice, simple, light hearted show. Fans of The Office will be happy to find Steve Carrell in the role of a guy who struggles with emotions, and tries to act as a supervisor while being seemingly unfit for the role. The show has some haha moments and some "cringe" ones too. Definitely binge-able through and a good foundation for future seasons
I am a bit shocked how low rating this has so far. Especially when I compare this to Never Have I Ever, which was a total cringefest without a single good actor. Space Force is a solid, easy watching fun.
I like it but not in a "it makes me laugh way" as I haven't found myself laughing, but in a "feels good/nice to watch while you drink something or eat some snacks". It seems to be following the same formula of bad things are happening at the start of the episode, he's doomed/hopeless but by the end he always does something that surprises everyone each time and saves the day. So yeah, it's nice, I like it, but nothing special.
the trailer gave me low expectations. The show itself is a big surprise! well done =) ( i just missed the part when we are supposed to know what The Mother did to spend 40 years in jail :o )
Super surprised by the mixed reviews and lower than expected ratings on this. I thought this season was far more deserving than an average 6/10 rating as of Oct ‘20.
I thought it was loads of fun and quite amusing, and that the writing overall was very witty. I personally can’t wait for season 2. It takes a lot to get me to a point where I’m laughing out loud while watching a show, and this show repeatedly delivered. Very few shows are capable of doing that for me. Well done!
Pretty good show. It's like Silicon Valley for space. Good cast. Jokes with some setup but I did had a couple of really good laughs. And it makes fun of Donald and his cronies. Which I find extra hilarious. It's normal this show is polarizing as you will hate it if you voted for Trump and you will think it's great if you didn't. First episode was a bit hard to watch as you don't really know the characters yet.
I felt it tried a little too hard to be Veep 2.0 (even down to the music) but I did enjoy the season. The writing is not that smart or laugh out loud funny but I do really enjoy watching Carell. If more seasons came out, I’d keep going but some characters need to go - in particular, media guy Scarpiducci (although a lot of people on tumblr seem to adore him).
I thought this was hilarious. This seems to be the new show that is cool to hate on, but I laughed through every episode. If you are expecting The Office you might be disappointed. If you are expecting to be hit over the head by punny jokes every 10 seconds ala 2 Broke Girls or The Big Bang Theory you might be disappointed. If you enjoy subtlety and dry humor this is for you. BTW if you are not happy about the political bias in this show I don't know why you would even watch it? The whole premise is to make fun of Trump's idea for a Space Force.
Final Verdict: 7.26/10 (Good)
Such a talented cast for such an average show. Real shame Hollywood could not find better writers/scripts.
Cancelled. No Ending of Show!!
This show had so much promise and fell so flat. Is it bad? Not really. But it is bland. I want to like so much more of it and simply struggled to do so. The cast was awesome. It surprisingly got picked up for a second season (which maybe comedy shows can rebound hard from the season one mistakes) and this one just doesn't. It's fine, but I don't recommend it.
Average Season Review: 7/10
Recommendation: Skip (For Bland Comedy Fans)
A good start to a satire on the current US political line ruled by morons.
I watched the first season completely in a row, and I have to say that it was a bit bored at times.
The best episode was the second with the space monkey, terrific.
Unfortunately the kind of humor was not continued consistently.
Still a recommendable series, especially because of the entertaining 35 minutes per episode.
Such a funny show! Hope to see more seasons!
I realized that Netflix will produce every and any kind of shit. So, anybody has any idea for a show? Literally any thing, as long as it’s something "woke" though.
All new Netflix originals are the same - lazy, unimaginative and unapologetically formulaic. This one is no exception. I get it, Netflix is "woke" but not every single series needs to have the same exact tropes. I'm not denying that it's accurate or relevant, but there are a million different demographics to choose from. There are crappy black Asian, lesbian, Hispanic, and trans people that you could use as the "bad guy" but Netflix has an agenda to push, so it won't happen. That’s why no matter what the series is, by episode 3 or 4 half the lead characters will be revealed as gay. And "woke" shows on Netflix love to use social justice warrior language. That's why in Space Force Serbs are animals, the "Russian" guy is an idiot but Indians and Chinese people are so, sooo smart.
My biggest issue was that the show could not decide whether it is a comedy or a drama. The funny parts aren't funny and the serious parts aren't interesting. The jokes are infantile and it feels more like a kids TV show, something on Disney, than an adult comedy. The show isn't sharp enough to be good satire, and it's not funny enough to be a good comedy. I'm not even sure it knows what it's supposed to be.
The second major issue was that a lot of plot lines were never resolved. Side characters had interactions with the main characters, then disappeared. New characters were introduced, then were quickly given an excuse to never be seen again. First episode Mark's wife was there and second episode in prison for unknown reason? Steve Carrell's character is not written well either. He is a 4 star general but is an idiot? At times he's this serious military man with keen intellect. At other times he's a complete moron. Again, inconsistent writing.
I was left wondering how this ever left the draft table in such shitty form. Clearly, they spent more money on the production but zero money on writing the plot, or interesting characters. They banked too hard on the "Trumps plans are stupid" instead of writing a good show.
Wow. I didn't know one could string a bunch of tweets together and pass them as a script. It's nice to know that the people behind The Office can make mistakes too—it's scary, but nice.
Low effort Netflix production, don’t bother. Or actually it’s a good show falling asleep to, takes 5 min tops.
When do the jokes start?
This is like the worst of reddit make into a TV show.
Is this a joke? I was concerned when I saw Steve Carrel was attached to this that it wouldn't be taken seriously, and having now watched a few episodes i can see I was right.
It's a nice tv show to watch when you have nothing else to do. Steve does a great job, as always. It is, overall, a fun show in its own style. The finale episode feels rushed to me, though. But it's worth the while.
I don't know why most people didn't like this but I did and very well enjoyed it
This show is unwatchable. I want those hours of my life back.
How do i describe this show ? It would be funnier to watch fresh paint drying on the wall ...
A complete disaster !
The reviews from critics had me suspicious and going in with low expectations, but I was pleasantly surprised. It’s no “The Office,” but Space brings about its own quirky humor that I enjoyed. Season 2 should be fun.
What could have been an amusing and topical scenario for a movie was stretched into 10 series season. As such, laughs are few and far between, the story is thin, and the sub-plots are predictable. Acting was patchy, with the nerdy John Malkovich and the consistent Jimmy Yang being particularly notable, ably supported by a number of recognisable actors hamming it up, and some newcomers settling into their roles.
Amusing enough, but don't expect a season 2.
Funny show, the military in the US deserves this satire.
I really enjoyed this show. The stars rock, solid characters, and I really laughed out loud at the end of the first episode - epic.
To me, it seems they adopted the Office formula for this. They missed to opportunity to really step up the comedy, especially on this topic and at this time. At times it feels a little too serious, where it is obviously meant as a parody.
The trailer is misleading. The show is nothing like it.
Also, don't expect a new The Office just because Steve Carell is in it. This is closer to Veep than it is to anything Greg Daniels has done before.
Also also, John Malkovich is magnificient, and his type and mannerisms work in comedy perfectly.
I came for John Malkovich and I was right. The emotional backgrounds make the characters very real, and I love that. It's a parody, not a comedy, it feels more serious than funny. I just hope it will get better. No useless filler content, very watchable!
Calm down people!
I loved it..
It's not a sitcom first of all.
And Netflix only cuts 10 episode deals for comedies while the show took 6 episodes for the story to take off making this .6 of the season.
Stay tuned it gets better.
It's adorable and sweet and funny and it has an all-star cast so I would give it an 8/10. A bubblegum 8.

Alright, 3 episodes in, and that means it's review o'clock. I haven't watched The Office, so I wasn't particularly attached to this new series, but I highly value the cast.
The trailer was horrible. It felt boring as heck, but I gave the show a chance anyway. I'M LOVING IT!
It is funny, interesting, and has good character development. The characters are lovable, whereas the story might not be that believable – but it's not supposed to be; it's a comedy about space. Silicon Valley and their compression algorithm anyone?
My ratings tend to be a bit emotional, so realistically this could probably be around 8/10. "Unlearn" The Office if you've watched it, and understand you're watching something completely different. Unlearn Star Wars and Star Trek, and understand that it's a lighthearted treatment of space.
Give it a shot, chances are you'll like it.
