How the hell did Kenny survive this episode?!

A classic reference, pretty solid

Honestly one of the more stupid episodes but putting Kenny in dangerous situations and having him cheer at the end of the episode cause he was still alive saved it completely.

Despite that I've watched a lot of South Park growing up and even played the Stick of Truth, I never knew Mr. Hankey's origin story. As someone not very fond of "toilet humor," this episode surprised me with how well it came across. Funny as ever, I thought the whole episode would be a cheap laugh but it really highlights childhood naivety, curiosity, and confusion for poor Kyle and the conflicts of the rest of the story. Truly a great one. ...Not to tear apart a South Park episode, of course. "This is horrible! Everyone is fighting and my best friend is in an institution! All because of Mr. Hankey!"

7.5/10. Pretty great episode for something so early in the show's run. The conflict with Kyle as the Jew who feels left out because he doesn't celebrate X-mas hits close to home as a Jewish kid who grew up in Texas, and the episode's commentary on the town conflict about what should and shouldn't be in the X-mas pageant and town celebration is as incisive and relevant today as it was nearly two decades ago. Plus Mr. Hankey is just the type of scatological absurdity that South Park specializes in, and the C-story with Kenny is a hoot of the meta variety. All-in-all, a superb episode.
