3x03 Caregiver

I forgot how slow the beginning of S3 feels. Too much of nothing. It's a problem with how they left the plot off at the end of S2. Obviously finding Abel is going to be the main concern, but you can't have it be solved right away, so you're just left with a lot of treading water. Gemma is on the run from the law, so she can't be around the rest of the characters. But you still need her to have something to do, so they have all of this boring shit with her father.

The Opie/Lyla thing was so stupid, from all angles. I'm not even going to touch Lyla's "I only have a couple of years left to whore around, get over it" because... yeah. Her whole thing was needing money, but then she says she'll do this particular event for free. So you're just going to whore yourself out and not get paid? What's the point, then? They already had other girls to give, she didn't specifically need to be there. On the flip side, Opie and everyone else knew what the girls were going there to do. So why in the everliving fuck would he want to be there for it?! Pure idiocy.

Stephen King fondling a dead woman's breasts in a biker show. Alright then.

Those Miller Lite labels on the beer bottles near the end were edited in - you can tell it's not real when Opie's hand passes over it. I don't think I've ever seen a company logo/label/whatever edited in, rather than out.
