Silver Spoon 2013

I really wanted to give this anime a good valuation. It would be a 7/10. It‘s a pretty slice of life anime with an unique topic.

Unfortunately I didn’t like how they treated the animal welfare in this anime as if they doesn’t really care about the well-being of the animals. Yes sure they showed some scenes which meant to be lovely towards the animals. But that’s just the interpretation of the show producers and not how animals really feel. Well I‘m not an animal so yes I shouldn’t know more about their well-being but yes… I personally detest Tomako. She is the personalized capitalism and doesn’t give a damn about the animal welfare.

4/10.

I've added my two cents about the show previously and I'm happy to say it hasimproved (even my wish of a better OP was granted). Where as most anime play it save in an detached setting, Silver Spoon keeps it's Slice of Life grounded and has characters dealing with real-life issues. The start was a bit slow imho but Hachiken keeps on growing throughout the show. If we're lucky another season will be made but this would still be an ending I could live with. It's not selling that well but the manga is still ranked highly.

To me this was a fine and relaxing anime, very good to be watched by people who like farming simulators, or for people that are too stressed with studies and life in general.
It teaches a lot, but I think the most important message is: value the food you eat.
Overall it has great characters and I would love to see a third season of this.

quite enjoy it, though it doesn't has the feeling like the comic completely.
唔錯,不過動畫版太熱鬧少咗漫畫版果種放逐、流浪、清苦味

At the start of watching Gin no Saji, I was unsure of what to think about it. I thought it would be just a fun little slice of life anime, but what I got far exceeded my expectations.

Gin no Saji is the perfect example that we each have the ability to set our own path and believe what we want to believe. And even if we face adversity we still stand by our beliefs.

Personally I have never seen an anime in which a city boy was placed in a farming school, so kudos to the maker of the manga for doing it well. The anime misses no opportunities to put the main character, Hachiken, into situations far outside of his comfort zone, thus leading to hilarious developments. But don't let the comedy fool you, because there are moments in this anime where they ask the tough questions, and you may see things in a different light by the end. Another plus is that there's never too much focus on one side character at a time, and instead they all develop together through their interactions with Hachiken. The story progresses at a steady pace, which allows viewers to get to know the characters, but also prevents boredom by giving you a nice change of scenery every episode or two. If the beginning was a little less slow it would be perfect.

Now the art is very well done, and for some of the farm equipment and the more movement oriented scenes it is incredibly detailed and flows almost seamlessly. But, I have to take off some points for the lack of movement during a good portion of the dialogue oriented scenes.

The soundtrack wasn't much to write home about, but I did enjoy the opening and none of the tracks felt out of place. On another note, the Japanese voice acting was well done, and I felt that most of them fit there characters perfectly. Even better than that though, is that I found none of their voices to be annoying and normally there is at least one.

What really sets this anime apart for me is the characters.

I don't have any strong feelings about Silver Spoon but I thought I'd give my two cents about it now that the first cour is over: It does what it sets out to do pretty well. Given that there are kids today that don't even know where their food comes from it's nice to see that something on the topic of agriculture can get an anime adaptation (helps that the mangaka wrote Fullmetal Alchemist though). One of the topics that the plot always seem to come back to is the breeding of live-stock and being able to eat it afterwards. I felt that this always got treated a bit one-sided. The Japanese way is always the right one so for example when the chickens are kept in tiny cages no one questions it. The only thing I wish for is that the second cour gets a better OP because the current one is kinda akward.
