12 year old me would have rated this a 9 or 10 without hesitation. Unfortunately, my sense of humor matured past fart jokes. Most of the humor in this series is in the toilet humor tier, and at times the toilet humor is delivered while a character is literally on the toilet.
A large portion of the humor also stems from a handful of running gags throughout the series. One or two of them land (huh?) (me?) but the ones that don't land are tiring to listen to dozens of times (yassil). The [fruit] [animal] team name joke wasn't funny the first time, and it certainly lost its charm by the 59th iteration.
Occasionally there's a hint of wit, which serves as a refreshing break from the toilet humor.
Aside from the comedy aspect, the overall plot was engaging enough for me to keep watching. I'm not a sports fan, but I still enjoy a good underdog story. Six 20-25 minute episodes per season is easy to blast through, and I appreciate the brevity.
Lartly, the music selection is probably the best part of the show. Music doesn't often affect my rating, but in this case, it elevated Shoresy from a 6/10 to 7/10.
Shoresy: not for the ultra sensitive. It was so good to come across this show and seeing a character that's not all about being politically correct. Shoresy is a guy you can relate to. Tough love is the only kind of love that counts. Shouting abuse at the ones you care for and are loyal too is much better than lying to them about how special they are.
The show is full of laughs, as you'd expect from the creator of letterkenny. If you like tough guys, pretty girls, no woke messages: this is a show you will like.
Hoping it will return.
I really like the show.
It's a humor that we don't see anymore.
The realization is through the roof, and the sound design is on top!
It's quality TV show, condensed and well executed!
Season 3 seems to have been confirm
This spin-off definitely has the charm of Letterkenny and loved every minute of it. But as goes for Letterkenny as well, non-US show seasons are just too damn short. Every season should be a minimum of 10eps. You just wait too long for a new season to just get 6-7 episodes. But I digress. Can't wait to see, season 2!
As a Dutch Letterkenny fan, this one is a bit harder to understand. As anyone will enjoy a good Dyck joke or chatter about girls, cars and beer, Shoresy is mostly about hockey. And I don't know shit about hockey
Enjoyed watching this show regardless, can't wait for the next Letterkenny season though
I just changed my rating from 9 to 10. Reason being, I downloaded all 6 episodes to watch on a 5 hour plane flight. The show is MUCH better the second time around.
So - my recommendation for new watchers.... Watch it three times. It's not much longer than some movies. Huh?
First watch - watch each episode individually. Get used to the characters and the chatter. Don't need to get too deep into the dialogue as you will miss some of it.
Second watch - watch all six episodes in one sitting. It's just over 2 1/2 hours - slightly longer than a movie. If you cut out the credits, it's about the length of a long movie. Again, you will miss some of the dialog.
Third watch - watch all six episodes in one sitting, but this time - turn on closed captioning to catch everything you missed in the first two playthroughs.
I originally thought - I CAN'T WAIT FOR SEASON 2 - but in this case, I don't think we really need another season. I don't think they can top this season. If they try to, it will probably not be as good.
SaYaSo - just watch it. And, more than once.
Would I trade this for one Letterkenny episode? Yes. It's not bad, but the Letterkenny style/dynamic is part Shoresy. Shoresy isn't close to what I would have imagined a spin-off character series would look like. As in, why Shoresy? His lines don't even live up to what makes him great in Letterkenny, which is incredibly confusing. I think the amount of time eaten with slow-mo shots and fights suggests after about an episode and half of attempting to write this series it clicked that it wasn't going to have the content let alone the heart of individuated characters to make up for shortfalls.
I feel like I really want the creators to know this is all out of love for Letterkenny, not hate for Shoresy. I compared you guys to Firefly. Make a Letterkenny movie or more holiday specials. Give me a Shoresy doll or ring tone.
I'll give the second season more credit than the first. The, albeit very straight-forward and predictable, plot at least gave you something to more root for and invest in. They also managed to give Shoresy more heart and dimension.
Letterkenny is easily one of my favorite shows so I was nervous about this one. Jared Keeso actually playing Shorsey instead of Wayne was a little weird at first but it paid off. This show was fantastic. Loved the characters and the interactions between them. Hopefully we get a couple of seasons of this, I could see it being right up there with Letterkenny for me.
This is an awesome show! I watched it with subtitles to catch all the lines. Season 2 was even better than season 1. Can't wait for more!
Unabashedly Canadian hockey comedy that wants you to believe it's crude and crass... but has a huge beating heart at its core.
Clever writing, great characters and a ridiculously attractive cast that is extremely fun to watch.
A breezy and fun watch. Can't wait for more!
Big fan of Letterkenny, but came into Shoresy pretty skeptical they’d be able to flesh his character into a whole show. First watch I was meh until ep 4 and then loved the ending. On my first rewatch - loved it from the start. Kesso does a great job. I spent a lot of time watching Wayne, but never once saw him here. It was all Shoresy. So give your balls a tug and watch the show, tit fucker.
I can see why some (most) people wouldn't like this show - it's an acquired taste. However, it's right up my alley! Holy crap, is this show funny. I'm a long-time hockey fan, so this show has even more impact on me, however you do not have to like hockey to enjoy hockey to enjoy this show.
It's like Slapshot / Jim Norton / Chip Chipperson / Beavis & Butthead / South Park were all thrown into a blender in Canada - and this show came out the other side.
I cruised through all episodes of Season 1 right quick, so definitely looking forward to Season 2.
I don't know anything about Letterkenny - but I'm about to find out.
I love Letterkenny. This show makes sense to me...better soundtrack, more aggressive laughs from the women, not afraid to be French (Je ne parle que peu de français, mais, j'aime the fuck out of this shit -- I'll keep the subs turned on, 'cuz I think the background chatter's funny AF)
