From USA comes the exciting political thriller Shooter, based on the Stephen Hunter novel Point of Impact (and the 2007 Mark Wahlberg film adaptation). Season 1 follows former Marine sniper Bob Lee Swagger who’s recruited to help stop a presidential assassination but ends up being setup as the would be assassin; leading him to go on the run and to attempt to uncover the conspiracy in order to clear his name. Starting Ryan Phillippe, Shantel VanSanten, Omar Epps, and Eddie McClintock, the cast is especially strong. And the writers do a good job with the serialized storytelling, and at building suspense and intrigue. Additionally, the action scenes are incredibly intense and well-shot. Shooter delivers an impressive first season and promises more action and dark conspiracies in the future.
