I don't think that adapting a lot has to necessarily feel as rushed as this episode felt. The change and focus from scene to scene was really uncomfortably fast, and worst of all, the scenes didn't really carry that much impact. I think the first series hasn't aged that well, but still I like how that first episode felt, like the pacing and rhytmn of scenes was pretty good. In this version, the dialogue doesn't really have that much air between the and the shot composition is not the most dynamic.And while I think the drawing style if good and clean, I'm not really the biggest fan of the animation. But I guess, it just may be because they crammed a lot into this. First reaction is kinda disappointed.
I never watched or read the original, came here coz I heard it’s one big tournament arc, if there is it hasn’t started yet but the concept so far seems pretty interesting
