There is no noise. You get thrown in a world with a simple explanation on how it came to be and how it works. You know who the enemy is and what he is after. Its that movie night show people want but rarely get. Beyond that the cinematography is top notch the actors are good and the idea is unique.
You have to turn your brain off & cover your eyes to watch this show. Amazing audio & visuals but beyond that is absolutely shite. Blind people would not be able to all this they do in the show. No one ages. Their color coordination is perfect. Their hair is always perfectly styled. Watching the queen pray is beyond painful. The kids start reading like magic. They pack all learnings of humanity into a box full of books. It’s just dumb. I can’t believe Apple paid for this nonsense...my advice, ignore all the positive reviews & stay away. If you want to turn off your brain & enjoy audio / video than watch this crap.
Season 2 is even worst from writing point of view. Lack of any sort of logic & poor story construction.
It’s such a shame. A lot of amazing acting talent & the production value top notch. Ruined by piss poor writing staff. Very lazy writing.
I can SEE how some people are easily pleased, but come on folks , the story makes no sense whatsoever, they can't see but can make elaborate costumes, ok the cinematography was good, I know its fantasy and one is supposed to use one's imagination, but films are visual and that medium requires some form of reality to convey the story.
This show falls apart over it's premise: everyone is blind as in BLIND not nearsighted, not bad vision, blind.
Every episode you'll have stuff that doesn't make sense and blind people either wouldn't do or wouldn't be able to do, not even after 600 years or even say... "I looks abanoned"... "watch out"... These words would simply ceased to be used especially with so-called Witchfinders running around hunting down people who have sight.
The production is great, the acting is okay, the action is far in between dull parts and areas you will say "well... no, that... doesn't work". People who have sight don't see people they should have seen, blind people don't hear or smell large bears sneaking up on them (cuz you know stealthy bears are all the rage), kids learn language from books by... teaching themselves (sorry, the knotthing doesn't explain sounds VS letters).
I know blind people aren't helpless but the way the species is portrayed in this series is just too shallow to be believable. If they had fleshed out what it would be to have a blind society a bit more, changed the story a bit it would be a good show. Right now it's mediocre and without verisimilitude. If you can ignore that then good for you but then again everything is great if you have can ignore the bad parts of things.
Its a really beautiful show to look at.. shame its storyline doesn't make any sense and some of its characters are unbeareable.
A very enjoyable watch!
It started out interesting if not a little bit strange. I was worried that it would be dark and twisted.
By the end I was hooked and I cant wait for series two.
The good:
There is a lot of action in this series and there are some truly awesome fights. Baba is the man!
The scenery is stunning (ironic)
The character grow on you and they are mostly well cast
It is original enough to keep you interested
Suspense is built well, but doesn’t wait until the end of each episode to give you anything of note (looking at you umbrella academy).
The not so good:
Sometimes I think the directors forgot the characters couldn’t see, therefore allowing them to perform impossible feats
Needless elements that added nothing to the story (pleasuring the queen when having visions?)
Overall, what a ride! I really loved Baba as a character and I really enjoyed the story. Well done Apple.
Just one of those many many shows that keep suspense at an all time high level with many stupid characters doing stupid things all the time.
Enjoyed the first and even the second season more than the third. Fair bit of padding and dragging out in the later episodes though and while it's an interesting story line, as others have mentioned, you could drive a bus through the holes in the story credibility wise. The sulky kids in the shape of Haniwa and Kofun really grate after a while too!
I watched the first 4 episodes. Some cool action and ideas, but the show is filled with plot holes and the characters aren't very interesting. I feel like this would have made for a cool movie rather than a TV show.
I was a reluctant convert to this series. I was skeptical of the premise of a devolved civilization due to the populations loss of the fifth sense - vision (even the statement drips with allegory). However, the first episode quickly swept me up in an escalating sense of peril so I stayed with it. The direction is mortally flawed by all sorts of logistical inconsistencies but the struggle, some solid cast choices, interesting characters and the beauty of British Colombia kept me watching. I give this series an 8 (entertaining) out of 10. [Post-Apocalyptic Drama]
Pros: Jason Momoa, the cinematography and some of the choreography.
Cons: everything else.
I wish they would give Jason some better roles than mediocre stuff like this. I mean, it looks great and some fights are entertaining but there are just too many over-the-top characters and Queen OverAct just ruins every scene she's in. I also get the feeling the show tries to be edgy and it doesn't work at all for me.
Batista was great with the little material he got but he was more of a villain of the week than a real, fleshed-out character. If they make another season, they should probably get other writers who know how to write realistic but interesting characters rather than the flashy stuff.
If you can ignore some of the plot holes and the lack of logic in a lot of episodes then maybe you will have a decent viewing.
I stopped watching after the first 15 minutes of the first episode. Blind people fighting like Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee on cliffs with rocks sticking out everywhere. There's no way I can shut off my brain to that point and I'm glad that point was reached rather sooner than later. Those first 15 minutes suggest that there will be more and perhaps greater battle so no thanks. What else, building and flying airplanes? Makes no sense at all and I honestly don't understand how people can just ignore it.
Ignore the other comments and also ignore the plot holes on what blind people can actually do. This is show is good, really worth a watch.
The acting is good, Jason Momoa kicks ass and there are so many plot twists you'll never see coming. It is a GOOD story, the scenery is fantastic, the pacing matches an 8-season episodes show. I'm looking forward to the second season!
Jason Momoa really shines in this, and as numerous people have said, the cinematography is just stunning. Overall I found it to be an interesting premise, thought out to enough of a degree to result in a suitable suspension of disbelief on some of the more borderline aspects of the show. It's an ambitious concept, and told from a difficult perspective, so I’m really impressed with what they managed to do with it.
The basic backstory is that several generations ago a virus wiped out a large portion of humanity, and left the rest blind. For me it was entirely logical that there would be a certain amount of societal regression, if only because a great reduction in population is always going to have a massive effect in the way the world operates, especially when previously sighted people now have to come to grips with life as a blind person. It makes sense that a great deal would have been lost in the initial chaos, and the remainder wiped away by time. But overall, that doesn’t particularly matter, because the show doesn’t focus itself on the past, and obsessing about the how’s and why’s of everything would have just unnecessarily bogged down the central story.
I enjoyed the acting, the characters, the story, some of the clever intuitive ways in which people have learned to cope without sight, even taking into account the subtle enhanced abilities that the populace has developed. But what I really loved was how able the blind characters are. Baba Voss is a force to be reckoned with, and the story never makes the characters seem like they’re somehow lesser just because they lack sight.
The society that has built up in the aftermath of the virus is fiercely capable, and intricate, and compelling, and often quite brutal. It’s a very entertaining show, though the more aesthetic elements do have a certain element of irony to them, and I remain unconvinced on the continued use of clothing dyes in a post-sight society, I though the majority of it was handled really well.
To those who find the occasional little inconsistencies upsetting - eh, fair enough, don’t watch it. I’ll just sit over here and continue to enjoy the show for what it is.
This will not be for everyone, but if you're looking for a binge-worthy series and something unique, this is it. I felt the story was engaging, the acting well-done, and its well made in general. The only negative, for me, was the violence. This series is gory, and I've never been a fan of that. But, I just shielded my eyes for those moments.
AWSOME show! Great everything espescially the idea behind the show.
Gosh, i have to say this is an amazing show. Such an amazing storyline, amazing casts. Jason Momoa's action sequences are truly awesome. Yous guys should definitely watch this. I give this show a perfect 10/10.
Season 3 has resulted in a Game of Thrones-like storyline with betrayals, war and most importantly the most hateable antagonist I have ever experienced. (That's a good thing)
The visual style of the whole series is on top production levels.
Contrary to many other reviews, I quite like the transformation from S1 to S3. Season 1 introduced the world of blind civilisation. It mostly has transformed to a normal medieval war series about clashes of power in season 3. This change was done very seamlessly and doesn't bother me in any way.
Sure, it doesn't feel like a blind civilisation in S3 anymore. But probably a blind civilisation would have looked very differently from what is displayed in 'See' anyway.
My point is this series keeps the story interesting and the writers were probably at the end of what they wanted to show of a blind civilisation anyway. They had to introduce new conflicts to keep things fresh and consumers engaged.
Now that I have written all this text, this review seems a bit negative, but that's not the impression I have gotten from the series. The atmosphere, concepts and gradual introduction of new technologies make this series a very worthwhile and entertaining watch.
It is worth your time, as long as you let the story unfold. (As with most other media as well)
Simply terrible. I got tired of thinking it can't get any worse only to realize yes it can.
[TV+] It is a series that weakens itself by not knowing how to take advantage of its virtues. As a proposal for violent action show in a post-apocalyptic world, it worked well, specially in S1, but someone thought that from S2 they wanted to be also "Game of thrones". So that, in its development, and especially in a boring and absurd S3 finale, it has ended up being a caricature of itself.
The people here are way too hard on this show. I think they forget that there is a thing called "suspension of disbelief". Where shows will do something illogical in reality for a good story. If you accept that the people in the show have developed excellent hearing, almost echo location like, then what's the problem?
It's not a great show by any means, the actors are pretty bad except for maybe Baba Voss played by Jason Mamoa. The story is interesting enough and I do find myself enjoying parts of the show. If you don't mind mediocre acting and annoying characters, then give it a watch. It does contain some entertaining fight scenes.
This is the next absolute disappointment. I remember when I saw the first trailer for the show. I said to myself: "Oh my god, something interesting, something new, a great cast.". Basically, nothing of these happened, with the exception of the cast. Everyone in the show is doing a great job. Everything else, especially the story, sucks ass. One would think: "Let’s do a story! What would it be if everyone is blind in the future?". This potentially could inspire a good writer to go wild. But noooo, let's tell a story which is basically the same as the world we live in now, but with the gimmick that the people in it are blind. I definitely am not a writer and I'm not the person that you need to ask how a story should be told. But to have the potential for a great story with tons of sub-plots, and finally to tell again how we live now but with the "blind twist", sorry but go... The show could have told how people should tackle their blindness. How they gone blind on the first place. Black magic, curse, aliens if you will. Anything. Instantly, this could have been something with multiple story lines. Potentially 3 or more seasons filled with interesting dialogs and scenes before and after the blindness. But no, let us see how morons are arguing about God or which is the right one. How everyone is corrupt and just wants to fuck the next person. It's absolute bullshit! It's like a soap opera, but again, with the blindness twist. GARBАGE!
One of my favourite shows in the last couple of years, season three just about to start. Happy days.
I think people in general are way too hard on this show - sure, the blatant plot holes bothered me too, but I could name numerous shows I think are one-note, lackluster, or just absolutely insufferable that were reviewed better than this one. I can acknowledge the merit of some critically acclaimed media while critiquing it because it wasn't for me; it's perfectly fine to say that this show was a miss for you without taking a dump on it. Bottom line is, if you can't at least appreciate the radical reimagination of a world without sight, I don't think you can offer a balanced perspective of this show's merits and flaws.
The first season was good, second season is a bit boring. And we are led to believe that the blind can not only do absolutely everything the sighted can do but can do it far better. I mean, blind ninja's are a thousand times more deadly than sighted ninja's. #fact. Of course humanity would adapt to being totally blind but would they have ninja skills with katana swords? Probably not. And how did one learn to read when the world has been blind for hundreds of years? And not just read, some how they learn advanced sciences and math because, reasons.
But here's the primary reason this show is hard to watch: the queen. The actress is such a bad actress, so over the top and so cringe worthy with every episode it's like nails on a chalkboard whenever she has a scene. The rest I can live with, but the actress playing the queen will turn you off almost in a GoT Geoffry kind of way.
UPDATE FOR SEASON 3
Well, the queen doesn't have as much of a role, but the show is still running a bit slow since season one. I think they mostly played out the overall theme of this show in season one and have been just trying to keep an audience interested ever since - even more spectacular feats performed by the unsighted just start to border on ridiculous. Good thing this is the last season, I doubt I would hang on for a season four.
[After Season 2]
In my opinion Baba Voss is one of the most bad ass characters ever on screen. After two seasons, See isn't flawless by any means, but the originality, setting, and cast performances (Momoa and Hoeks in particular) make up for that. It's fun to see their take on how a blind civilization does everyday things. Not all actors pull off acting blind, which sometimes distracts from the storytelling. More people should watch See, it deserves it. Can't wait for S3.
Took me a few episodes to really get into this, but then I was hooked. High production values that create a fascinating world. Acting and scripts tips, as well as pace. I’ll still in season 1!
Visually incredible, Background music and sounds a treat to all your senses, Nonstop action that keeps literally want more I could go on but I fear my observations would not give this show the credence it deserves so you must See this show to fully understand what I have tried to convey to you
I like the combination of story in the future of the world.
I like the combination of story in the future of the world.
If you can stick to it, it gets better. It's not on a Game Of Thrones level, but it's OK.
Different, unique and violent. Another great show or act by Jason Momoah! Unforgettable moment will definitely be the Queen's prayer :blush::blush:.
Very interesting story, and good fight scenes with blind people, I really want to know where the story will end, we will see. Right now let's keep watching
DON'T READ THE INFO CARD AT THE BEGINNING!
It'll just make you question the whole basis of the premise, and ruin the whole thing, like it happened to me.
So they lost sight hundreds of years ago and still haven´t evolved; since nobody can see why do they function only in well lit areas?
The premise has serious holes in it, but at least its not nukes or zombies. Will keep at it with interest.
They have me hooked when they tell me they can talk to god when having orgasm.
I very much enjoyed the movie until it was over then I realized it was actually a series of 8 episodes. so my joy got multiplied by 8.
I fuckin love baba voss <3
Exceeded expectations! I was expecting a knock off Game of Thrones vibe... Jason Momoa is underrated.
It’s a strange one, certainly original. I didn’t think it started well, it even seemed a bit silly. But, I’m glad I’ve kept watching, as it’s growing on me and I find the concept interesting.
It’s thought provoking in a way, considering the basics of the story and how the world would be in such a situation. It’s something I’ve never given thought too.
I don’t particularly understand the sexual scenes or the relevance to why it’s part of the story, it just seems stupid to think they’d use sexual pleasure as a way to pray or communicate to god. It’s weird and unnecessary.
I’ve watched 3 and as much as I’ve enjoyed it, I think the storyline maybe predictable. However, I do still love the basic concept and the thought in to how the world would adapt and progress under those circumstances.
Looking forward to watching more and hope my initial thoughts of being predictable are proven wrong; it’s still early days.
Sorry but this series is just stupid. The storyline doesn't make sense, blind people run around in a forrest but never run into the trees but always passes them etc. etc. I fully agree with Vincenzo Köstler that it does look good though.
I've stopped watching the series as there are so many great series to choose from so why spend my time on this production.
For blind people, they certainly can see a lot. They can even throw a grapling hook! And hit the target.
I feel like someone meant this as a joke but people are taking it seriously.
They call masturbation prayer. That scene had to be a joke! They wouldn't even put that in a Naked Gun movie, because it's too stupid.
try to go at night into the wood without light, this is stupidity
Who knew Momoa could act...
Great world building and felt bot expansive and claustrophobic at the sometime. Innovative in exploring a world where the blind lead the blind and sight is an aboration. Well scripted and mix of adventure, family drama and action in and post apocalyptic world.
I for one am looking forward to where they expand to in season 2. Id like to see more threat and expand on the family dynamics and insecurities but a promising start. Great to see a studio taking a stab at something fresh and new rather than reworking old stories and concepts.
I thought the ending (cliffhanger/new arc point for a 2nd season) to this was really good. Those last two episodes were worth the wait, especially that fight scene. I still couldn't understand why people wore colour coordinated clothing and looked very clean 99% of the time but despite this it did provide a great insight into sighted/non-sighted folk. I would like to hear from a recently sighted person. Another thing I didn't understand is why parents would, on discovering their child had special powers, wouldn't teach them to hide it by training them so as not to rely on it. Towards the end this became an obstacle to them, but the world they were born into would have made this a necessity at birth, if they were to live unexposed. I almost gave up on it but persevered just because the acting was solid. Also because it was post-apocalyptic, which given society and my personal predilections from my long years of reading sci-fi and fantasy, so I jumped aboard willingly.
This show is so dumb. After episode 3 it's starts to be a joke. Ninjas who can't see.
Finally some very good tv show! I highly recommend to everyone go watch this show!
S01: It is like watching a bunch of blind people stumbling around in the woods. Starts out with You can do it! and then you start laughing at them and by the end your thinking why am i watching this...
S02: Could only make it thru 4 episodes with a lot of fast forwarding... the characters are pretty boring and the story is just a rehash of some other bad show...
Overrated!
A lot of flaws and killer faults in the scenario. With lots of nonescense.
Season 1 was fair enough, but has weaknesses in storyline and has logic flaws.
Season 2 and 3 are just cheesy rottened shit, with cheap sympathy with gays matter and twisted fucked up sexual relationships, which all are unrelated and unimportant to the story and the hypothitical era. Weak storyline, writers just wanted to add & pad these rottened "modern" ideas, regardless of sane or logic.
Rated as poor!
A strange series, but exciting to watch.
See is like a TikTok version of Game of Thrones…
Parts of this were okay but in the end between the acting/characters/production and the writing it all seemed like a Walmart version of GOT…
First season was good. But it started getting boring.
No No No No No No No No, No!
These sighted kids are the most blinded in the universe ; overcome with greed and savior complex they are either brave & stupid or wise & cowards !! Haniwa more than the Queen Sibeth drive you through nuts !!!
Queen Sibeth has to most self-centred moarch ever existed and the universe (God Flame willing) supports her actions and rhetoric !!
Baba Voss and Marga with their tribe (Paris , Bow Lion) trying to just live a calm live gets dragged in witch hunts , clan wars and then kindgom's coupe & conquests !!
Haniwa is gonna become another Sibeth
Who is action an interesting but I think he’s a smart guy. I think he’s not coming back for a fourth season. Who is action an interesting but I think he's a smart guy I think he's not coming back for a fourth season zombie so much longer you could do this but it was decent sho
I'm really sad about how they turned great show to this ending, Season 1 was really great but then it became so weak episode after episode, idk what happened to the writers but I'm pretty sure they do better than that, They could really make a different whole story bc they had a unique idea, so it's really sad, the only good thing about last 2 seasons is for sure jason momoa, he really did great job and the people who is responsible for making fights looks real, they have done really great job
While the first two seasons were interesting, patterns appear in the third. Sibeth as an antagonist to infinity plus - boredom! After all, the series is worth watching.
What a crap. Totally boring with terrible actors performance.
Started out strong, but becomes a really boring pointless drama very fast
For some people it might be difficult to digest but believe me its great.
If I had to pay to see this I would be very hissed off but I didn't so that's something I can take away from this.
HI, it looks a lot like a game called Kenshi, very interesting, parece muito com um jogo chamado Kenshi, BR gameplays: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=objiSNsMrfU&list=PLP3E_c-R2NnZR_alfSqQHhKGAu4N6Fxr2
The concept gets on your nerves, we get it. You feel physical pain watching this. Don't ponder too deeply into it. You'll actually enjoy it that way unless it isn't your cup of tea. I enjoyed it. It can be slow at times, and at those times, what's happening in between and the cinematography should prompt you to watch the rest of that episode instead of giving up and declaring this show to be the worst thing you've ever watched. The fight scenes are pretty good and interesting, as are the other ways the blind people go about things. Overall, it's a good watch. Just don't think too deeply and ruin the way you think about it, the way you see it. That seems to be what some people are doing. Or those people have too high of a standard that they can't help but hate everything below it.
Cant watch I for some reason
I've enjoyed it a lot so far, and can't wait to see the rest of the episodes. That being said, there are some huge inconsistencies which I've chosen to ignore, but YMMV.
There is no consistency in terms of how people age (without giving away any spoilers). Apart from the fact that the bad guys dress differently from the good guys (e.g. black is the color of the bad guys, which seems very coincidental for people who can't see), I'm not sure how they can tell if they're fighting their friend or their enemy.
They can hear the dogs and horses probably from a kilometer (or hundreds of meters at least) away which makes sense, but they cannot hear (Gether Bax) talk with the enemy 20 meters away across the bridge.
If you can get over some inconsistencies, then, by all means, watch it.

It's okay but there are so many mistakes in the storyline, so much stuff that does not make sense at all that it sometimes hurts to watch. The cinematography is on a really high level - indeed. However, the inconsequence this storyline was written with is disturbing and makes this whole thing a bit of a painful experience. I quite skipped trough it to at least get an overview where this is going.
Maybe they should have done a deep dive how cultures would really develop under these given circumstances. I find it hard to believe that all those people do not know absolutely anything just because there was a virus. And given the fact, that there is no further explanation I bet Apple itself does not have an explanation how this scenario makes any sense.
The only reason I can see why people would give this series a good rating is because of the cinematography, the cast and because it was done by Apple. Because besides those superficial reasons, there is nothing really that justifies a good rating.
