This is probably the ugliest show I've ever seen. Poorly acted, random events, a shitload of stereotypes... Ugh!
The show does an excellent job introducing us to a bunch of new characters, assigning special traits and attributes to each one of them. The entire episode was rather textbook thriller, a high intensity situation, a unique set of skills, an unwilling protagonist. And it was rather well executed. The pace was excellent, not missing a beat, with our protagonist facing one problem after another (and in a fashion that isn't completely linear). The plot was interesting enough, hopefully it will not just be a one off plot point and we see an investigation into the actual malicious hackers in subsequent episodes. Romance and love! because every show needs a protagonist with a love story. Unfortunately, the waitress and the protagonist do not seem to have much of a chemistry. The actors do not seem to gel well together, perhaps their (real life) relationship my be developed further over time.
However, there were a few too many coincidences for my liking.
1. a random man on a random plane having a phone that they could reach.
2. a chess grand master losing to a small genius boy who so happens to be the son of the poorly introduced love interest.
3. homeland security facing a crisis just when our protagonist are out of money.
4. a speaker erasing a server storage grade hard disk.
.
.
.
just to name a few.
And does psychology actually work that way? How does one person "hack" the lives of others. I am not sure if this is even realistic at all. I hope they tone down his character in subsequent episodes.
In summary, the show gives us a great introduction to each character, albeit with rather forced drama.
Top moments:
Laugh out loud:
Jump starting a ferrari via its fuel tank.
In an effect to inject some intensity to the moment, the director gets the engineer to jump up and sit on the back of a chair while waving her arms vividly.
Unbelievable stunts:
Connecting an eternet cable at 200 miles per hour.
Very good drama indeed! Connecting an eternet cable to a laptop from a PLANE while driving at 200 miles per hour! Drama indeed!!!
Love this show, it’s new, fresh. Tired of seeing a bunch of cop shows! This show is funny, yet had its moments that were intense.
Would love to see it back on TV at a nice time, not so late at night.
i'm very late to the party.. but had a few people mention this one so thought i'd try the pilot last night. It seem's VERY melodramatic with a lot of stereotypical characters.... also just totally over the the top and insane even by TV show standards I was in stitches when a pliot was hanging from a moving aeroplane to throw a cable to the woman below who was somehow keeping up in car in order to transfer files to a laptop....... i mean......... come on now, I love me so good high action, and I get pilot episode you want to make it something to remember, but this was ridiculous, but I shall still watch a few more to see what happens I guess.
Why I can't put this show on my watching list?
Really great first episode! I'm looking forward to watching the rest.
Boa, série inteligente. além que vi boas críticas sobre Scorpion, vai progredir, acredito.
I suspended disbelief and was able to really enjoy this as quality TV; suspension of disbelief if very much needed :)
I just started watching this series. So far so good. The Pilot was pretty decent.
I'm going to go through the rest and see how the story develops.

Why didn't they just land the plane when they made contact with it through that cellphone? That said, pretty cool first episode. Feels a little like modern sherlock but with more action.
