Continuing live comments... Watch out! There be SPOILERS ahead.
Award show weirdness. Satirical social commentary. Perhaps a little dry but good concept, until McKinnon thanks Nazis, and it pushes things further. It's scary what enterains 'us', when every audience has something to satisfy them, however 'weird'. Liev is a little light on laughs again, as his character isn't a focus. Interesting host choice so far. He does the characters well, for what's on the page.
Spoofing those home renovation shows. Some clever quips. Creepy on a few levels.
Dueling brothers. Funniest part might be 90s hip hop Bugs Bunny shirts. Not even cast laughing saved this. Maybe it was laughter about what made it on screen. The dance was ridiculous but could have been a moment. Liev resorts to spraying a hose for laughs. Slapstick: love it or hate it, eh. The late skits can be weird strange brew gold or it can miss the mark. Good thing is those that dig on this brew will enjoy how SNL still stays bold.
Last skit was another weaker one. A few stumbles too. Davidson's wink about the customer being right was a nice reference to his apology and the audience.
Overall...
Some good moments. No mind-blowing skits. Too bad Liev didn't have any huge laughs. On the lower end of the season, but still entertaining.
Live TV has that unpredictable energy, so SNL always has that excitement. This week, for me, the host and skits were comparably weaker to earlier this season. I still had fun though. SNL always brings a few good laughs each episode.
My score of 6 sounds worse than it is, to me. The episode was good, not great, not perfect. I just take my 5 star score and multiply by 2. So. 6. Good.

Booty Song. 90s pastel neon pop song gets the PC satire mix. Davidson traps for a few snickers, one gross. Good, but not as good as the long list of great catchy SNL spoof songs, even with a couple MC cameos.
Weekend Update. Every week, I'm looking forward to this segment. Since the 90s. Jost and Che are good, mixing clever commentary, satire, and non-sequitars. They're getting better too. Still not the upper tier yet, with Chevy, Jane Curtain, Norm, Fey and Poehler.
This edition of WU: 1. Che dives into white women voter suppression, "I, like, literally can not." 2. Taking the mic was a nice physical bit, and replay with doctored footage. Decent remark on perception of reality quip. 3. Chiklis impersonation crack was good too. 4. Another Philly mascot scare 5. Old Spice. Ha. Easy, but works.
Then. #6 happens...
Awkward Davidson apology. But nice shift to talk of his mom. Then, Wow, the real hero arrives, and Burn, big, Grande. Then a Short burn to follow it up during mini Davidson roast. Then, big then, the supposed PR stunt turns real for Veterans Day comments (Remeberance Day here up North). Touching, even when comedy gets so cynical. Nice moment. I love how SNL deals with their own shit.
And, halftime... More live comments coming soon.

Opening highlights: McKinnon hamster sips, stowing away nuts for winter, Nosferatu ID badge. I'm loving her "weird little" impersonation as we bid farewell to the character. I wonder if she'll do GinsBurn tribute on Weekend Update.
Host intro: Unremarkable. Light on laughs. Liev seems a little raspy. Maybe some yelling in an upcoming skit.
Family incest. Always ripe for jokes. Funny how it ratcheted up though. And again Trump brothers duo with good chemistry. Um. I mean comedically.
Haha. Digital short hits again. Wet jeans! Returning abroad with an accent. Warm toilet seats. Liev gets first laugh with extended Uhhhh. Good song about small things we all hate. Hey. Seinfeld made a career out of that.
Yes! These blue collar characters worked well will this premise. I love Cisely and Kate in roles like this. McKinnon was hilarious. This is her Farley equivalent to "Van by the river" role. She shines with these kind of anecdotes. Lots of flavour in her dialogue. Good stuff. Liev got some good costar laughs too.
More on the way. Good episode so far.
