[7.2/10] The stand-out of this one was the Force Awakens spoof. It’s sad that we probably won’t get another Star Wars special out of Robot Chicken given Lucasfilm’s new owners, but it’s still nice to see the show offer its take on the new movies. Making the Nerd BB-8 was a nice entree into things, and the gags about the wipes and his running commentary were superb.
The “grown-up Inside Out skit felt kind of lazy, though. Captain Hook swerving Peter Pan with a fake peanut allergy was an amusing twist. The Jack Reacher sketch was a cheap laugh, but a laugh nonetheless. The commiserating Oompa Loompas had the “dark but mundane take on a kid-friendly property” humor that I like. The Stranger Things skit was a solid chuckle for turning into an Xmas light competition.
The Protectors of the Stone skit was weird, but enjoyably so. I looooved the running gags about the circus lion performing tricks he learned in captivity despite being unleashed into the wild. The scandal pig celebrity trajectory sketch had some bite to it. And the series of panic rooms skit ran out of gas quickly.
Overall, the Star Wars sketch dominated this one, but it was still a good outing.
