Kind of like "what if Memento was nowhere near as good, and actually had no good reason for its gimmick?".
Feels like this could go somewhere with the idea of "everyone always has a reason for doing something" (even if I think the idea is somewhat questionable) but in this episode it feels silly. Like, it's just an endless stream of "punchlines" (why are these two fighting?) followed by "setups" (one of them didn't like a joke the other made / they are having a rough romance).

what a fraking good pilot! but it might be to smart for its own good... lot of people will just give up understanding it.
