Red Dwarf 1988

Cult British Sci-fi comedy by Rob Grant and Doug Naylor (Spitting Image, Comedy Playhouse), what is there to say, hilarious outerspace fun, that still holds up and is still funny to this day. Series XI and XII due 2016/2017 exclusive to Dave. We dwarfers can't get enough. Boys from the Dwarf. Chris Barrie, Craig Charles, Robert Llewellyn and Danny John-Jules are all fantasic.

Best show ever, absolutely loved Red Dwarf since the early 90's. I have watched season 1-7 a million times and am still watching to this day. Don't get me wrong i love season 8,10 and 11 but haven't seen them as often (season 11 for obvious reasons) The early stuff is now dated but still funny, every season the set changes and evolves to a very modern 11 season. Hope you get as much enjoyment as i have over these last 25 years or so.

What if Starfleets bottom of the barrel captain’s laziest and most arrogant crew members were stuck alone together for eternity?

You don’t have to wonder any longer what that might look like in the best of British Tv comedy since Monty Python.

A series that feels like eternity that will keep you hooked as it continues finding more creative and zany ways to tell the story Lister and Rimmer as they meet new friends drifting in the infinity of the universe.

I have seen the first eight series multiple times. Why haven't I seen all of it?

The short answer is I grew out of it.

The longer answer is that it was basically my favourite TV comedy for much of my teens but as I got older the writing appeared to get worse. I had every series on VHS but the last few in particular seemed weaker. Maybe I was just getting older.

When it was revived I just couldn’t bring myself to watch.

Red Dwarf is the sitcom that nearly didn't happen. After multiple attempts to get somebody to put it to air it got underway. The comedy isn't going to stick with everyone but the setting is so realized that anyone can get some enjoyment out of it. For me I consider it as a masterpiece even with the minor flaws that it has in some seasons.

Red Dwarf combines Sci-Fi, comedy and sometimes drama to varying degrees. To a large degree the comedy is more focussed on characters then what happens to them. The feel of the show is pretty unique and changes season to season. It doesn't matter what season others like best, try any except for 9 which references the shows past more than the others. I have my favorite seasons and you will too. This is the show that got me watching tv. Personally there are episodes i hate but as a whole it's worth watching.

I sooo hope series 10 goes back to the roots of what we know and love before the mentally corrupt series 7 and upwards
