While ReBoot was the first fully CGI show on television, Toy Story gets more credit as a pioneer for having the first fully CGI feature film. Those worlds collide in this episode, complete with a reference to Luxo Jr., the signature Pixar lamp, who nearly thwarts our heroes.
There's also a mashup with James Bond, with Enzo as 007 in the Toy Story-esque environment of the game, and a riff on Q from the series in the "real" world as well. Again, as has been par for the course in this new season, it's just reference after reference, with Toy Story, Bond, and even Wacky Racers (Dastardly and Mutley) shoutouts. It's kind of weak and there's little said via the references beyond "Hey! These things existed!" And again, the show seems more adult for little-to-no reason, with Hexadecimal showing up in fetish gear.
I bumped up the episode, however, for the Bond-esque intro, which got the campy tone of those earlier films extraordinarily well and did a perfect melding of that and the show at hand. That sequence alone showed more creativity than the rest of the season's first three episodes combined.
