Well, this is certainly a departure from the first two seasons. The animation has improved by leaps and bounds, but also gives the show a certain samey-ness relative to other CGI shows on television. Enzo's voice is noticeably different to boot.

And everything is more...adult. Mouse and Dot suddenly look much more like Lara Croft than they did before (especially in Dot's Morticia Adams/Elvira getup). We see the mangled body of Hexadecimal, and we see Frisket get shot in a pretty brutal manner.

The show also gives up any pretense of not ripping off other shows. This isn't a lawyer-friendly cameo from another work. This is Ash from the Army of Darkness showing up, saying his signature line, and chasing our heroes to the cabin from Evil Dead where they have to hide the book of the dead. Enzo is doing a full-on Michael Jackson, and there's the aforementioned Adams Family reference.

There's some mildly interesting ideas at play with Enzo stepping into the role of guardian, but it feels a little like the soul of the show is gone and in its place are a collection of slicker animation and reference after reference after reference.
