well acted but incredibly shallow in terms of writing and plot. queenie is subject to various vile debasements only to get little relief in the end and to me, it’s not worth it in the least. the show seems far more concerned with salacious depictions of #messywomen (but with superficial black aesthetics, of course) rather than actually portraying a young black woman’s journey to self actualization with compassion and respect. yes there are black women like this out there but they deserve better than this lacklustre nothingness masquerading as ‘representation’. disappointing and pathetic.
