The most surprising thing about "Happy Birthday, Isabella" is how it's a shocker of an episode but not for the reasons you think. The episode does still advance Phineas and Isabella's ongoing storyline though, and does it a genuinely meaningful way that feels earned. Isabella's song is an all timer as well, perfectly illustrating her love for Phineas in a cute, if somewhat tragic, way.

But the real good stuff comes with Perry and Stacy, of all people, as Stacy learns Perry's identity. In a massive status quo shake up like this, this could have easily have fallen flat but it absolutely works, especially if you've seen Across the 2nd Dimension and know the consequences of Perry revealing his identity. It's great stuff and it's earned reveals that shake up the status quo in new, fascinating ways.
