This is a bottle episode at the perfect time and place - finally, we get an episode that directly examines the complicated psychology of both Doofenshmirtz and Perry, separating them from the main plot and putting them into a situation where they are forced to work together. The character writing here is excellent, some of the show's best in fact, and it's both funny and insightful. The ending to their arc is open ended enough to continue past this with more of course, but now with a greater understanding of what is to come we can finally see Doof in a new light going forward.

Plus, it also helps that, despite being almost entirely in a desert, it's never boring. In fact, it's actually rather beautiful most of the time with great background work. And the brief moments with the P&F gang? Hilarious stuff.
