The absolute madmen - I don't think anybody would have expected a full on "2001: A Space Odyssey" from a Disney show, but Dan and Swampy go full ahead with it and it might be one of the funniest parodies of that film. Unlike most parodies which simply take the iconography (which this still does), this one understands what makes the film so memorable with it's grand use of classical music, camera angles, and rising tension. It's an episode that keeps trying to one up itself at every turn, and it never ceases to amaze.
It also has easily one of the best uses of the formula yet - having everything contained within one specific location but with each party unable to talk to each other also plays into the theme of communication in the episode that permeates the entire of it's runtime. Simply a phenomenal episode.
