I usually savor Scandinavian thrillers (crime and political) for their willingness to trust their audience with moral ambiguity and for the scale of drama which makes the unfolding of events so personal for the characters. This was not that: There was a clear good guy (Team Norway), whom former allies had all but abandoned (featuring the USA living up to its "I'm only in it for me" stereotype), a clear bad guy (sorry, Russia, but you are gonna need a lot of decades of resisting the urge annex other countries in order to shake that mantel), and plenty of explosions to push Norwegian restraint to its breaking point. And I enjoyed it enough to want a second season, especially given where Season One finally took us. Streaming on Netflix in the US.
